Newsweek editor Evan Thomas brought adulation over President Obama’s Cairo speech to a whole new level on Friday (6/5/09), declaring on MSNBC: “I mean in a way Obama’s standing above the country, above – above the world, he’s sort of God.”

I’m speechless…

Truly objective Journalism.

Christ! Even his kids are going to be giving him crap over that one. Can you imagine the scene when he vetoes a boyfriend? "Well Dad, you are like a god and all (cue teenage eye roll ::)) but......... ;D

Wonder why we're screwed up and in this mess ... Guy's like this are getting paid to filter the news and give us versions like this.

OH...MY...OBAMA!

The only thing that comes to mind is to regurgitate my dinner...

Wow, lamestream media just continues to develop real estate down there off the deep end.

Ok somebody correct me if I'm wrong here, but wasn't it Evan Thomas who said a couple of years ago, when asked why he was so spiteful towards Bush, "It's our job to hate the president." ????

Yep.
Quick Take: Evan Thomas vs. Evan Thomas

Newsweek editor Evan Thomas has created a precious contrast in the media's approach to presidents Bush and Obama.
"Well, our job is to bash the president, that's what we do." -- Evan Thomas responding to a question on whether the media's unfair to Bush on the TV talk show Inside Washington, February 2, 2007.
"I mean in a way Obama’s standing above the country, above – above the world, he’s sort of God." – Evan Thomas on Hardball, June 5, 2009.

So next time I get mad about watching my country being driven towards Eurosocialism(which the Europeans don't even want any more), should I say "Obamadamn it"?
-
Remember that Newsweek is letting Stephen Colbert run it as "guest editor" this week. So that means that it moves from a "news weekly" to an "entertainment weekly" in my book. Not that I've read it in a very long time anyway.

In Greek mythology not all Gods were benign or even smart.

Thanks for the backup Haz! I'm at work and didn't have time to look it up! Sorry for getting the quote skewed, but I thought I remember it being the same propagandist.

I love the "lamestream" media moniker. The far left media got this guy elected and they served as his imagemakers, being very careful to never project facts, his platform or anything more than an image that uninformed suckers would drool over.
It's no wonder that he is Newsweek's "Sort of God" They created him in his own image.

OT What's the deal with Colbert, I've never seen heard or read any of his stuff yet, but I've heard that he is a VERY strong supporter of our troops.

On that you are correct. His schtick is that he plays an over the top right wing, ala Rush, commentator. His show is funny, smart and reasonably balaced, because while he makes fun of right wing bluster (my favorite was "Rainbows are God's way of frowning at gay people"), he is a fairly conservative guy. He's been in Iraq the last week, and has raised many, many dollars for scholarships for the children of service members.

I think you have been watching the wrong show, while he has done all for the military families, 'fairly conservative' is a complete misjudgment. As is 'balanced' goes, its basically just the Daily Show that tries to make conservatives look like jack asses, and most of their guest are atheist or feminist. Watch it for a week solid and you see. But it does have its moments.

You may be right, I've only watched it a few times, so I shouldn't have made an overall view of the show. I have heard him interviewed and he just put forward some fairley conservative views, but that might not be typical. My apologies if I didn't have facts right, but the few episodes I watched, were pretty funny.

To paraphrase something Lloyd Bentsen said in a Vice Presidential debate a few election cycles ago:
"I know God. God is a friend of mine. Barack Obama is no God."

This may be the right place to drop this little turd in the punch bowl ;D
This is the same Preacher who said BO's mother was trash, because in 1961 that's the only type of white woman that would have slept with a black man.

I... I... I actually don't know what to post in response to that Tom. I have the overwhelming urge to post something, but the best I can come up with at this point is the ramble crap I am typing right now.
That is amazing actually. That's all I can think of right now at this hour in the night. Amazing and WOW.
Top notch is another thing that comes to mind.
Really wondering what FQ's reply to that video will be. As it has been a little while since it was posted, I can only assume one of two things.... FQ hasn't seen it or he is spending a large amount of time trying to figure out what to post in response.
ETA: It reminds me of the character on The Boondocks (cartoon series on Adult Swim) Uncle Ruckus. It's one of those shows that will catch your attention while flipping channels late at night.
