Bob Smith is running for senate in Sarasota, I don't know if any of you are in that district but he is a good guy. When he was in office up here I voted for him and would do so again. While it's true that people can change for the worse he was Conservative not a RINO.

State senate, or is he looking to take Martinez's seat in the US senate? It seems Crist (who is the king of rhinos) has got that one petty well wrapped up.

Crist THINKS he has it wrapped up.. I wouldn't vote for him even if you held a gun to my head!
-
Not State, Must be Martinez's seat. I don't know anything about his opponents but he served us well in NH.

Well I will look at him. Generally I am not a fan of carpet baggers, but I'm not a huge fan of Charlie either. I respect him for being both honest and competant, but there doesn't seem to be any there there. Its kind of like he is running for office because he fell into it as a career track. Again, not a bad manager and we could (and have done worse here in the sunshine state) but not all that inspirational either.

Former two-term Sen. Bob Smith (R-N.H.) announced in a YouTube video
over the weekend his plans to run for Florida’s open Senate seat in 2010. The seat is currently held by Sen. Mel Martinez (R-Fla.), who is not running for reelection.
Smith, who was ousted from his New Hampshire Senate seat by Republican John Sununu in a 2002 primary, will face former state House Speaker Marco Rubio and Gov. Charlie Christ in the GOP primary.
Pledging to return the Republican Party to its conservative roots, Smith, who now lives in Sarasota, said, “I can’t stand by and watch what’s happening to our country and our party.” He added, “We cannot be sunshine patriots now. We have got to step up and lead and get this country and our party back.”

Don't be fooled by the fact he lost to another R, The guy who beat him is the son of a former NH Gov, who served as White House Chief of staff to GHW Bush (Daddy)
