I'm down in Key West with my dad for some tarpon fishing. I've lived in Fl. my whole life and never made it this far south. I have to reccomend it, great food, great architecture and great fishing (four tarpon yesterday). This is accentuated by the general weirdness of he place, which if you're oen minded, can provide endless hours of fun people watching, from the gays to the hippies to bikers to the good old boys (and lots of very hot women wearing very little). We went to watch the sunset at Mallory Square. In between the soap box preacher, the firejuggling unicyclist and America's Southernmost Bagpiper, was the cat circus. This guy (I did mention the weirdness right?) has trained several housecats to do cirus tricks. Kind of like Sigfried and Roy only without the whole getting mauled bit. They would leap from stool to stool, allow themselves to be juggled and leap through flaming hoops. I thought you might find this inspirational for your beast Haz. At the very least its something to threatn him with if he misbehaves. "Claw up the couch again and I'm selling you the crazy gay guy in Key West"! It would work for me. ;D
FQ13 Who is going to sit by the pool and have a mojito and try to decide which color bikini he likes best 8)

Been there about 10 years ago. I understand it is very changed (for the worse) now. Not the gay thing, they were always there. Just way overbuilt and very touristy, no ' Old Pirate FL flavor' left. The cat circus was there then.
BTW Rum Runners are better. ;)

Had a blast in the Hog's Breath Saloon. Really neat place. Checked out Hemingway's old place with the six toed cats. Also the area where the President's used to stay. Can't remember what Presidents were there??? Neat place and loved the 5 mile bridge to get there.
Snorkeled John Pennekamp State Park in Key Largo. The whole island chain is beautiful. Had to watch my speed in Marathon. Lots of speed traps. Would not want to be caught drunk driving there.
Have fun FQ. One thing I did not get to do was deep sea fishing. Loved looking at the Catamaran's down there.

I lived in Key West for a year back in the Navy days. It was weird then too though loads of fun for a 18 year old kid with little to do but drink, chase women, drink, chase women, drink, shoot a little pool, watch the sunset (every night), drink some more and chase a few more women and drink some more. Debauchery at it's finest, if the tables at Sloppy Joes could talk...or the Blue Marlin Hotel pool!
I believe Truman had a place in KW where he stayed on his vacations as well as Pappy (Hemmingway) and his Polydactyl cat's...
Diving, fishing, drinking, eating, chasing women, getting burned to a crisp...memories!
I left a '63 Bel-Air in the parking lot of the pool hall in town, if it's still there, you can have it!
