Goofy, yes. But still, two fun toys. I'll give him a pass, particularly if he ocean fishes out of the kayack.
FQ13
-
Follow him to a boat launch, if he backs down the ramp and floats the boat of the roof rack, then shoot him!
Once for buying a 'Vette and once for being a bonehead!
-
Is that a kayak or a racing scull? Much more forgivable if the latter. A lot more Yuppie.
-
I'll give him a pass on the boat, but putting a rack on a vette needs to be banned! Someone call BHO to get this fixed!
-
WTF that guy needs a truck not a dang vette. Its like using a golf cart to go off road.
-
That ain't nothing. I've seen a Mustang Cobra with tow hitch hook up hauling a trailer full of landscaping equipment. :P

I saw a metro actually towing a 1500 lb travel trailer on the free way... he must have had that thing floored to get it up to 45

Hell, we got Cadillacs up here doing that, mini-vans too!

Oh Sh*&^%t, now we're getting a vette Czar ;D

Heck maybe i should be shot because i race a 90's s10 with nasty little small block shoved in it.
-
I suggest selling the Corvette, buy an S-10 to carry the kayak, and a chevette to be cool on car pool day. Let's go Green!!!! LOL ;D

Actually Mauserman, you should be commended for giving life to an otherwise worthless featherhauler. What could be more fun than a small block with several hundred horses in a 3000 lb truck.... ;D
I had an S-10, otherwise I would not insult one.....I have a Ranger now, also a worthless featherhauler but it's paid for!
;D ;D ;D

Just last week i rebuilt her and the 383 ramjet is hell on wheels and eats up tires. My B&M trans might be in a little trouble but the 1/8 mile races are coming soon. ;D ;D

I hope you invested in a decent seat and retraint system and for goodness sake, wear a helmet! I was a mechanic in another life, not much of a gearhead (motorcycles) but I do miss a good local drag strip. We used to spend most weekends at the races when I was growing up in MI.
More memories.... ;)

Chevettes weren't bad little cars, Everyone I knew that had them, loved them, Don't let them rust out and they were good for 10 years and 250,000 miles, Below that I never knew anybody that put more than gas, oil, and tires into one.

"The Iron Duke".....my wife had one when I met her....Great little 4 banger but they were drywall on wheels if the cancer started....I ended up rebuilding the motor in my driveway and selling it for next to nothing....lack of maintenance did the little girl in...
-
84 Nova had the same engine, Nothing to brag about except that it was dependable as hell.

vettes actually get good milage, if you can keep your foot out of it. which is the hard part. hell even a town car gets like 25 mpg on the hwy, which is only a few mpg diffrence between a a v6 accord or v6 cameray. we all know the town car is a whole hell of a lot more car.
my work truck has 335k on it, the motor has never been out. other then a tranny and a starter, I have done basicly nothing too it. its just been belts, hoses, fluids and tires.

Actually, now that I think about it, Pontiac built the Iron Duke, not Chevy....Maybe it was a Sunbird!
I'll have to ask the wifey what she had, she'll probably say "A yellow car"! Whatever, some cars run, some don't....usually it's the person keeping it up that makes the difference.
-
My cuz had a vega we swapped the 4.3l from my s10 and put in a votec supercharger. The trans came out of a 90 iroc and ran like hell, but a sad note to this is that one day coming home from work he said light pole ran accross in front of him. He turned that vega into a pile of shit. :'( :'(

I don't know about Pontiac, I know that the wife Chevette and my Nova both had that engine. They were both 84's as well.
Funny thing, guy I knew at the time had an 84 Civic at the same time, the only differences between that and my Nova were the body style (his was a hatchback) and the emblem on the steering wheel.

pontiac built all of GMs hp and HD motors til the mid 80s. did not matter what the make was, if it was a hp/hd it was made by pontiac.

Did you know there are several companies that make trailer hitches for Vette's?? Seem's like this kind of thinking should envoke "Kill on sight" orders.
The car with the kyak on top is a Z06 no less. :-[

I drive a Cadillac Deville that gets just shy of 28 mpg on the highway, with the AC running and the cruise set at 70 mph.

My first major project was a small block in a series on LUV that eventually became a stroked 400 small block (if stroking a 350 down to a 302 is good a 400 down had to be better) ... That plus a manual shift turbo 400, cross ram with dual quadra jets, and a "shade tree" locker rearend was a screamer that the Phoenix PD could not even dream of catching ;D Next venture was a '74 Vega and a 350, turbo 350, limited slip (in the midwest corners are better if you can turn them), and a full cage to make up for the lack of frame.
Damn ... I miss real hotrodding :'( These new kids only know NOS, turbo and computer chips >:( Go back to a basic engine, carbs and a junk yard full of spare parts. We could blow it up on Friday night and be back out cruising Saturday ... we could be racing Saturday morning if we wanted to ;D

My first new truck was a 92 Chevy S-10 X-cab 4x4 with the 4.3 Vortec 6cyl. That little bugger went EVERYWHERE I ever asked it to go. It hauled deer, javelina, elk, and a few wild pigs in Texas. Of course, I have grown up and moved on to bigger and better trucks and SUV's...but I can't kick my little old S-10 for not makin' a hand when work was to be done.

1982 S-10 with a built 327 SBC.
It was my daily driver for many years until gas got out of control (8 mpg).
Mothballed right now 'til the funds come along to do a full-blown race build.
Bought a '94 S-10 and drove it for ten years and then gave it to my oldest. He still drives it with over 250,000 miles and it still pulls good, runs good, and don't smoke.
-
I bought one slighly used in '88 and drove it for a couple years until stuff started falling off of it. New England winters are hard on any car but that one was definately the last Chevy product I will ever own.
As my pappy used say and Ping would probably agree...."That was definately a Friday car!".....IOW....came off the line on a Friday afternoon before they tightened everything down....
Union shops..... :-\

Instead of giving GM all that money they should have just bought us all a car or truck.
