Best Defense first season just arrived yesterday in the mail. (We don't get the Outdoor Channel). Maggie and I sat down last night and watched almost the whole first DVD. GREAT stuff guys!. We stopped the DVD many times to talk about points that were made, etc.
This is a really great compilation of defense and safety reminders all in one place. Everyone does a great job of describing things and it feels like you are right there with them. Except what sounds like the canned woman's scream. :)
The other thing that's great is that we have this to review whenever. I can tell Maggie stuff and....you guys who are married know what I mean...she doesn't always hear me...
While we watched the video I saw the light bulb come on- this stuff is making sense to her and it's going to make us both safer and better shooters.
Since DRTV started I have enjoyed being a member of the forum and reading some of the stuff, the blogs, the radio casts, but have never been able to see the shows (damned Comcast). Now I realize I've been missing half the experience.
Thanks to Bane, Pincus, Janich, and the Marshalls for the content and the vehicle to get this out there. It's really good stuff and I suggest that everyone get a copy. I can't wait for season two.

I am really glad you are not only watching the episodes, but sharing and discussing them!
We've been sending lots of sets out from the I.C.E. Store and I hope that everyone receiving them is taking them as seriously as you are.

Just finished the first DVD. Gotta tell ya this is some good stuff. I consider myself to be moderately knowledgeable and capable (but always willing to learn) and I must say that you had me going "Hmmmm, that's a great idea."
I think Jay has the right idea of watching with your spouse ("I like to watch." Ten point to the first person to identify the source.) and using it to spur additional discussion.
But, and there is always a but, I have a bone to pick with the production. I could swallow the sponsor recognition (something I've not seen on other DVDs from broadcast show) but please do something about all of the commercial segues and returns when you put the second season on DVD. It would be so much more watchable without those and they just drove me nuts.
Please focus on the first paragraph and take the third as personal recommendation.

Jay you hit the nail on the head. I DVR'ed every show, as I do with about a dozen gun related shows. The Best Defense is the only show of it's type where my wife and 16 y/o daughter watched every single episode. They got a lot of great info and we have discussed the shows frequently. We even go back and review from time to time when questions come up. TBD is unique and a great gift to all of us that are concerned about the safety of those that we love.

Second, my elder daughter and her hubbie came down to celebrate belated Father's Day (there will be a new thread with range photos if the camera worked). Hubbie is LEO and he thought the videos were great. Lots of serious and important info covered quickly and concisely. Again, nice job guys!
Oh...and belated father's day... it involved a ten handgun, 600 round range trip. More to come.

I got the DVD about a month ago. It is the best gun/preparedness resource I have come across. I liked it so much I upgraded my directv service so I can now watch TBD Survival. I also have bought a AR and a Glock since watching the DVD. My wife wants to kill me or at least hurt the three wonderful hosts. ;)

The 'Best Defense' series was the only way to convince my wife that she needed a CCW permit. It was the only 'gun' show she would watch and really listen to. Great series - gets better all the time.

Hey Rob, The wife does like the show and my sons LOVE it. I think it is the recent purchases that has her "slightly" upset ???
