Please tell me this was not MB. Please tell me that Alf the Wonder Beagle was not involved!
Looks like MB's lion got whacked but good. And if you read the article, it states the lion turned and came after the man. Is this the Colorado Gestapo looking to get rid of a nasty ole gun owner???
Inquiring minds want to know.

BOULDER, Colo. — Colorado wildlife officials Monday were considering whether a man will face charges in the shooting of a mountain lion that was attacking a puppy.
The shooting happened about 1:30 a.m. Friday in a home near Gross Reservoir west of Boulder, Colorado Division of Wildlife spokeswoman Jennifer Churchill said.
People inside the home heard the attack on one of three dogs that were chained outside the house, went outside, and started yelling at the adult mountain lion. That's when the lion headed toward the armed man, who shot the cat.
"We're investigating what will happen to the person who shot the lion," Churchill told the Daily Camera. "We do have laws that allow people to protect their safety and the their livestock. But this is the tricky gray area of it being a dog."
The puppy was expected to survive. Wildlife officials confiscated the mountain lion.
At least two other mountain lion attacks have been reported in the area, including the Sept. 2 death of a pet miniature horse in the Nederland area southwest of Boulder and the death of a 60-pound Australian shepherd in Nederland on Sept. 27.

Let's not worry about the "tricky gray area" between livestock and a pet dog. Does the report not indicate that the lion headed toward the man? Or maybe a person being in danger is clearly black and white not worth protecting in Colorado.
-
I agree that if the lion turned on the dog owner, the fact the lion was attacking the dog now becomes a mute point. When a wild animal has more rights to live than a human, it is time for the wildlife services to re-evaluate thier functions.

Jennifer Churchill sucks!

This kind of ignorance from those that are in office ( or anywhere for that matter) just infuriates me!

If it had of been a child..( and it very well could have been,).. Would they still be "confused" as to if there should be a fine for shooting the lion? It never ceases to amaze me that in this day and age plain old "common sense" has just totally flown the coop.
And in it's place at the head of the table sets stupidity!
It's incredible...... no... it's disgusting that this is even an issue that this man and his family have to deal with. >:(

I see this absurdity on a daily basis and I wonder if I've been transported off the planet of my birth to somewhere else. If it's a deadly threat to one of my family, be it 2 or 4 legged, it's getting strongly persuaded...

NOBODY would file on anyone defending thier home. Please.

Attack me ok ,attack my pets and its on , I dont care human or animal , Im bringin it.

Thought I heard a dog howlin' and I'm in Florida! ;D

Just a dog, anybody price some canines lately, I've seen good bird dogs valued at five thousand, I've seen some little furry critters advertised in the paper between five hundred and close to a thousand, pound for pound, I think they are worth more than a prize cow.... ;D

Alf has announced that she is changing her name from Alf the Wonder Beagle to Alf the Chili Dog!

You need to understand that this is in the jurisdiction of the People's Republic of Boulder. The rest of Colorado doesn't even claim that they're on the same planet as the rest of us. We're talking Berkley of the rockies here. This is the community that allowed Ward Churchhill to stay on the staff of CU in boulder long after the rest of us figured out that he was a loon. So please understand that in a more typical community there would never be a issue. In Idaho Springs west of Denver there was a teenager jogging along a trail who was killed by a mountain lion some years ago and most of us understand the danger and would react in the same way to protect our family and a pet we consider like a member of the family.
-
Surely this will all be dropped. I can't believe they would seriously try and charge the guy.
-
I would love to think this wouldn't happen, but I have lived in California in the past and have learned that governments are a little stupid about these things. I know, I know this is in Colorado, but idiots seem to survive everywhere. Hope sanity wins out in this one

SANITY WINS But thier not HAPPY about it. GRUMBLING

I missed the news. Tumblebug, is there a release on the outcome of this?
