Title: Front quad rail for AR?

OK. I'm getting my new DPMS sportical tommorow. ;D Down side is I have to add back-up irons and a front sling swivel.I'm not upset at the irons, but you would think they could have thrown in the swivel? Anyway, the most economical way to mount these is a handguard rail. These run from $40 from DPH, to well over $200. Me, as a newbie to AR's, I see a piece of aluminium with no moving parts. I want it to hold a sling swivel and a flip up front sight. What is the deifference here? Any thoughts?

Look at the MOE forend at mag pul. You'll have to buy the separate rails, but I'm thoroghly satisfied with them and they are easy to grip because you don't have the full rails if you don't want a forearm grip

I second the vote for Magpul's MOE accessories... they are durable and affordable. I think they'd be a good choice for your situation.

I picked up a YHM fore-end for my rifle-that-is-still-under-construction - has three full-length rails top and each side, and a short rail on the bottom at the front, leaving the round frame of the aluminum fore-end for a hand grip close to the receiver, plus the rail for a vertical grip to be added. If I ever get the darn thing on the rifle, I will let you know how it works.

The magpul looked great, good price, good company, but it said that you an only mount a rail at 10,2 or 6. I need something on top for a fromt flip-up, unless it will either take one of theirs and they don't mention it or I can mount it on my gass rail, (ideal).

Won't your front flip up go on the gas block.  I'd figure it would be better that way any way so you don't leave the support of the upper receiver.  Or maybe they make a sight with the proper height to be mounted on the gas block.

The sportical does appear to have a picatinny gas rail on it, so a front sight should bolt right on. I know you asked this question before, but I won't recommend 1 sighting system over the other. With back up irons, what I like are easy to deploy and hard to fold down. Rugged and adjustable.
