The gun found in Saddam Hussein's foxhole when he was seized by Delta Force special troops in 2003 could become the centrepiece of an exhibition in George W Bush's presidential library
The 9mm Glock 18C, presented to then-president Bush by Delta Force agents after their triumphant arrest of the Iraqi dictator, has become one of Mr Bush's most prized possessions.
He would show it off in the Oval Office to visiting military dignitaries, with the boast "The Delta guys pulled it off Saddam".
Now the New York Times has discovered that *he intends to make it a centrepiece of his presidential library that is being built, at a cost of $200m (£123m), on the campus of Southern Methodist University in Dallas, Texas.
The weapon belongs to the US national archives, but Mr Bush has told the paper that he wants to display it prominently in the library, which will be organised around 25 key decisions he took during his eight years in power.
Mark Langdale, the president of the foundation that is being set up in Mr Bush's name, told the paper that "the gun is an interesting artefact, and it tells you that the United States captured Saddam Hussein and disarmed him literally. How we fit that into the decision to go to war, we haven't gotten to that point yet."
When the gun was found it was unloaded.
The library is due to open in 2013.

Saddam would have used a Glock. ;D

The worlds first trillion dollar Glock. Hope it was worth it. Too bad it will be displayed next to an empty case that was supposed to contain a WMD. :-\
FQ13 who will be quiet now but is thinking about the McNamara thread

When asked by his US interrogator why he kept pretending he had WMDs when they had been destroyed Saddam said "So my enemies would not think I was weak."

Yeah, THAT worked well for him, didn't it? ;D

Saddam just did not have the balls to pull the trigger on the Glock. ;) What happened to the AK-47 that Saddam had with him in the bunker?

Who can blame him? I wouldn't want my life to depend upon a Glock, either. ;D

Better than limp necking it. Seriously I am glad that none or our gyrs were hurt, but you would think that with all that swagger and bravado over the years, he would have pulled a Butch and Sundance. To quote Ice-T "How did he go out? He went out like a B!#@"! ::)

To be honest it didn't surprise me. One of those "tough guys" who is only tough when he has backup.

That isn't exactly fair to him, He was NEVER a soldier, his entire career with the Baa'thist Party was as a Political organizer/ activist. The only time he ever attempted a direct action, (assassinating the Prime minister ) his pistol jammed, in the only other documented armed encounter he engaged in when all the real fighters with him were killed he surrendered and was exiled. His actions were completely in keeping with his past, and the finality of his sentence probably came as a huge shock to him.
