Has anyone purchased the KRISS Super V? It looks interesting but I'm wondering if they sell many and what owners think about them.

Several years back I saw a vid on the prototype. It was much cooler. Really a striped down frame with a trigger and a mag. WAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAY COOL.
I'm not enamored with the new ones.

I need to find a couple or mags, they fit the model 21 Glock ;D
Any one have a source?

Kind of pointless with a 16" barrel and semi auto.... I'd much rather have a rifle in a rifle cal then a auto pistol cal.
-
I like my Mech Tech CCU for plinking and hunting porcupines, and I like the price a lot better than the Kriss. The 16" barrel gives it over 200 fps higher velocity than a pistol, and the performance of +P ammo is even better than you'd expect. If that's not enough they make a .460 Rowland. :) I have tried my 20 round mags yet.
-
It looks pretty neat, but I agree that an AR or a more common carbine is more practical. I love the idea of creating new better things, it just seems like there are people who need to reinvent the Thompson when there are better alternatives.
-
What they CAN'T seem to do is make things LESS complex.
-
I believe the Kriss uses Glock 21 magazines if I remember correctly. Been a few months since I saw the show that featured it. Looks like it would be fun to shoot.

Aboutt the Kriss

Hell the kriss is just one of those guns no needs. I have a PC9 and i use 147gr +p in it all day long and feels more natural than the kriss seems. I have 20,30,15,and 10 round mags for it cant do that with a Kriss.

I don't know how natural the Kriss feels but it uses 30 round mags of .45 ACP. You can't do that with a PC9. ;D
The whole point was coming up with a way to eliminate muzzle climb and recoil to use a bigger caliber than other submachine guns (and pistol caliber carbines). I still think the carbine is overpriced but will take a .45 over a 9mm any day.
-
You make a strong point 45 vs 9mm, 45acp has more knock down power but slower speeds. The 9mm is fast and better suited for use in 16inch barrels and there are many more choices of ammo. The 45 acp is limited in that affect.
-
I'm not sure how the knockdown power compares to a 9mm but when I shot a pop can filled with water it was blown in two. That was with a 185 gr. +P flat tip FMJ from a 16" barrel. The can looked more like a .30-06 hit it instead of a pistol round. If the .45 is limited I can live with it's limits. At least until I get a .460 Rowland. :)

Thought I'd chime in as a very happy KRISS owner. Is it a gun that one 'needs'? Probably not. It is, however, very fun and the lessened recoil means my wife loves it (and she's tiny).
It does use Glock 21SF mags and the 30 round extensions make it well worthwhile.
Availability depends on whether a local gun store has become certified as armorers for it. Here in KY, only one gun store in the state got the nod (and thankfully they are in Lexington where I live).
One of the earlier posts mentioned we never see things becoming LESS complex. I have to say the KRISS is very easy to take apart (few pins and you are done) and the genius of the thing IS its simplicity. Believe me, if I can handle taking it apart and putting it back together, anyone can do it!
The downside is that it is a pricey investment. However, it always turns heads at the range and people love shooting it. I was most surprised by how accurate it is given the 45acp round. Given that, I can take it to the indoor range here since it is still firing a handgun round (can't do that here with other evil black rifles!).
Happy to answer any questions, but don't overlook it if you get a chance to see/fire one.

One of the gun shops in town is having a demo weekend in a couple of weeks with a bunch of manufactures with free demo guns to shoot. Just need to buy ammo from the range. Kriss is supposed to be there (and many others) with a couple of models. I'm going to make a point to go.

Thanks for the previous info, I ordered 4 conversions for the Glock 21 magazines, (Impact guns, Ogen, Utah ) they said delivery was not expected for some time, and I guess I timed it right, got them in 8 days, just put one together and it fits the model 21 just fine, I'll bring some .45 and 10mm tomorrow to see how they function, I'm thinking the 10mm may hold 35 rounds or more. ;D It is a well thought out conversion.
The conversion kits were 27 bucks each.

Dr Ken is absolutely correct. I too own the Kriss and it is awesome. You have to understand they chose to chamber it in 45 acp to prove that the new design of the kriss CAN reduce felt recoil and muzzle climb, with even the most potent handgun cartridge. Plans are in the making to include 9mm and 40s&w. TDI's intention is to give the H&K MP5 a run for it's money. They are off to a good start. Still a few things to tinker with I'm sure, but they'll get it right. I do wish I didn't have to pay what I did, but it came with all the trimmings and extras I wanted. I think it is just as easy to disassemble the Kriss as anyone of my ARs
Just my 2 cents

I want one, but don't have the Grand and a half to drop on it. The 30 round mags that will work in my G30 would make it a great companion carbine. ;D
