Title: I need some help, older shot gun wanted...
Post by: TAB on July 09, 2009, 04:22:55 PM
So here is the deal, I have a very good client that is turning 90. long time hunter, founder of the local sufari club... etc  etc.

I'm looking for a older double barrel shot gun, I'm going to build him a side lamp for his "stuffed animal" room.   I would prefer something well worn, it does not matter if its in working condtion or safe too shoot.  28"+ barrels would be great.

He is a great guy, after remodeling thier kitchen, the man gave me a origanal weatherby masuer sporter, that had seen several trips to Africa.

thanks.

Sorry, I can't help. It sounds like a very worthy project.

See if New England Arms is still in business (they closed their local store) I sold them an old double hammer Belgian gun (which I would have just given you for a couple of boxes of .556) for $75 because it was damascus and I couldn't shoot it. The owner said that a lot their guns wind up being sold by lot at whole sale auction. I would bet that for $50-$100 you could find a wall hanger that looked good. Try MacBrides in Austin (not a great chance but worth the call) and Chaddicks in Dallas (a much better chance) or Kevin's Guns in Tallahasse.

I would also say to check out some pawn shops around town and spread the word there for what you are looking for. If you will also please put together a thread dedicated to the actual project itself, I would love to see it...... Pics and as many details as possible please!
