And last night on Showtime was Penn and Teller's BullShit and the episode was about violent video games.
Great show to watch!

Hopeless Call of Duty 4 - Modern Warfare addict here. Still trying to finish the run on Veteran level.

Sick game go buy it, its made by the Operation Flashpoint guys.
BTW, I can turn on video game mode and see the real world in polygons, edges, vertices. It's scary, but useful when you make them. ;D

Battlefield II
at the moment COD 4 and BFII are the ones I am playing at the moment when I am not on forums

Phil, you sound like a good guy, so I'm going to help you out. First, stop playing COD 4 and never think of it again, I forgive you. Second, go download the BF2 mod called 'Project Reality'. Its probably the best mod I've ever played, and it really adds on to the BF experience, it the hardest core squad based combat ever. Then go get ARMA2, all the Operation Flashpoint greatness in an updated graphics and effects package with a stronger tactical emphasis.
Let me know if you get Project Reality, you can be my spotter. ;)
On that note, we ought to have a DRTV game night once or twice a month. Let me figure some stuff out, I'll try and pick games that all ya'lls rigs can run, and that's free. If your interest, post some suggestions. I can run the server and VOIP, you guys just brings your asses so I can kick 'em. ;D

AAAHHHHGGGGH! Me too! Except I always loved the cheats...like unlimited ammo... invincibility....(ok...that gets boring) but the "all the ammo you can eat" is pretty fun. The Clancy games are pretty good...Syphon Filter.
So it's not just me.
-
Ok quite possibly the dumbest thing I've seen.
But full disclosure: third person shooter.
Socom
Metal Gear Solid
Ghost Recon
It's what gets me through the winter, when it's too crappy to go shoot. ;D
-
Oh, thank God I am not alone! Currently playing AA2 and AA3 on a regular basis.
COD: Modern Warfare
America's Army 2
America's Army 3
BF2 (with the expansions)
Far Cry
Far Cry 2
SOCOM (PS2)
I had to give up on the role playing games (Neverwinter Nights, Baldur's Gate), spent way too much time on those.
-
Wolfenstien 3D ;D
I'm with ya Tom ;D

I like all of the Duke Nukem games, for the comedy. I played a lot of first person stuff, but I'm all about Guitar Hero Metallica now.

I'm thinking about Mechwarrior 4. The original studio is getting ready to release it for free 'soon'. Its just enough simulator with just enough action that I think most people here would enjoy it. Not to mention that it would run on most people's computers. Plus we could all stand around and argue what 'mechs are the best with what weapons and this, that, and the other. Just like we do now with guns. ;D All you guys could be nerding it up, 'Roger that lance lead, I got your left.' OK, maybe I'll be the only guy nerding it up. ;)

If you only knew what they were doing to your Duke Nukem. It's basically one of the gaming industries biggest nightmares right now. But at least we'll always have the memories.

I don't really want high tech games just a change from cribbage

I know that Duke Nukem Forever has supposedly been in development since 1997 and will be done when it's done. My daughter was going to pre-school with Rob Pardo from Blizzard's kids this past year, so I got some inside dope. I live right by Blizzard. They have a sweet cafeteria.
Is there any more news on Duke?

Basically Duke Nukem, right now, represents everything that's wrong with the gaming industry. 3D Realms, in Dallas, and Take Two Interactive have been screwing each other for over a decade on Forever. Somebody's suing somebody for twelve million dollars, because 3D Realms, the developer, hasn't delivered the product to Take Two, the publisher. So Take Two pulled all of their money and 3D Realms is virtually no more, and Duke Nukem Forever is canceled. Maybe somebody else will pick up the title, but there's no telling.
I've worked with a couple of Blizzard guys, and they've all had nothing but the best to say about Blizzard. The company's building is the greatest, because they expect you to live there. ;D And trust me, sleeping in a studio sucks, but all that good stuff could help. See if you can sneak in there and grab me some free posters and shirts. ;)

Damn, I forgot all about Mechwarrior! Haven't played that in a while, I bought a Joystick controller just to play that game with too. Hmmm, might have to install and give it another crack. If anybody wants to frag each other online, let me know what game and we can set up some time to play.
-
Any one ever play "Urban Terror" It doesn't always run well on my computer but when it does it's fun if you don't mind waiting to get into a game.
Also used to play Sony's Tanarus when it was free, that was a blast ;D
-
Ah Mechwarrior, that was a cool game!
I liked the 1st Wolfenstein, Warcraft 2, Total Annihilation, and my favorite was Operation Flashpoint.
-
Counter strike and red bulls all night. ;D
