Saw this posted a long time ago. Never bashed them for reliability or function in the worst conditions....They work as designed. Grip angle is great for some, awful for others. I've shot many but don't own one. But have no reservations of getting a used one probably a Mod22. One day when the money and timing is right.

Just trying to fight the "heat" and Kool-Aid. ;)

But their still ugly...

Love my G30!  Trust it 100%.  Maybe 101% after seeing that article!  Thanks for the post!

Say what you want, but the Glock is the weapon that all are compared against, for good reason. They work, and will work in all conditions, the AK of the pistol world, but guess what, accurate, not bullseye accurate, but more accurate than they should be, the .45 acp is the most accurate of the bunch in all configurations.  It needs to be part of your " go to, arsenal " I own many pistols that I have no reservation about, but my model 21 is proven , 20 times over "  It harvests the smallest game, and has taken 2 white tail deer.  SD no problem, I'm not looking to put a human head on my wall, but if it can hit jack rabbits at night at 25 yrds, well it can do SD just fine.

You XD fans, and S&W M&P fans, I have no argument with, I just have not shot them, 1911 users, I have much experience, and own plenty, but for the overall package, pick the Glock.  PROVEN.  The 1911 you can say is proven, but only with ball ammo, and if that is what you carry, FINE, I have little doubt it will work. The Glock gobbles it all. 90% of my Glock reloads are 185grn, semi wadcutters, never hiccups.

As I mentioned the first auto pistol that I ever bought was a Glock 17. I bought it after reading a Popular Science article about a Miami PD torture test. I figured any gun that survived what they did to that Glock would be worthy of becoming my first non wheel gun. I still love my revolvers but I have never regretted buying that Glock. It has never failed and I can't begin to guess how many rounds that we have run through it. Besides it's my wife's favorite firearm and she would cut or shoot my cajones off if I ever sold or traded it. :P

I have owned many Glocks. I have owned Sigs, Smith and Wessons, Beretta, Taurus. Hi Point, EAA's and TEC-9's. Carried Colts, Bushmasters and DPMS. Owned Benellis's, Rugers, Glenfields. Fired Colt 1911's, SKS's and AK-47's. M-60 Machineguns, XM-138's, M240's, M-79 and M-203's. Remington and Winchester shotguns. One firearm that has proven tried and true is the Glock. I am on my sixth Glock and trying to purchase 7 and 8 in a Glock 35 and a Glock 30 in .40 S&W and .45 ACP. This is how much I put my trust in Glock.  ;)

Well this proves that this guy can really beat to death a pistol!

I will say the Glock is a dependable pistol.
It has the least amount of parts of any pistol I know of.
It is a simple design that works.

My dislike is 2 parts, I don't like the grip angle and how the G17 destroyed the GB.

I have never been a fan of Glocks, but after this.......There is no way in hell I would do something even close to resembling this torture to my 1911.
I have many different pistols, revolvers and such and I think its time to start looking at a Glock, I have not even the slightest idea what model is what, but I'm gonna learn...I promise.

Apparently, he really hasn't yet beat it quite to death. He shoots it for IDPA.

Need more Glocks! I can't believe I ever entertain the idea of any others!

Nothing against Glocks, but good ol govt 1911 went through this for close to a century in the care of many a grunt! Plus, if it failed on Guadacanal it made a better club than a plastic one  ;D
PS: Why would you do that to your own gun? I can see the TV guys, it aint theirs! Is this guy so worried what anti-glock people think he is going to wreck his own gun? Reminds me of guys in the service so insecure they would have a competition to see who could leave a cigar burning between their arms the longest. THEIR arm! HIS gun! What the (u know!)

There is a lot of Glock bashing that go's on, mainly because a now 500 dollar pistol should not be this good. I think this guy is just trying to put the argument to bed, never happen, but he has tried the hardest that I have seen. I love, shoot and own 1911's
10 to date, with another on the build. Glock is beside the bed and in the vehicle.

If you look at the tests, there is nothing there that is really damaging done in those tests.  cosmetic damage yes...really damage, no.

It still stopped the HK. I think there is potential serious damage in dropping a gun from a plane, dragging behind a truck and shooting it with a .22.

There are other tests where Glocks have fired hundreds of thousands of round without failure. The often cited torture test on a S&W M&P caused a crack in the slide after 62,333 rds.

You might need to have another look..... He shot it with a .22.........  not to mention sand and salt are pretty damn rough on guns/machinery.

*Oh yeah, I forgot about the whole dropping it out of a plane onto cement!

*Boy, I would love to see Mythbusters go and do a Glock torture test!

couple things  a small amount of surface rust, is cosemetic damage.  its not going to stop any combat spec gun

The gun  was droped onto dirt not cement. there is a huge diffrence between asphualt and concreate.( cement is part of concreate, its actually very weak by itself.)

lead 22 shell are going to do very little to steal.

I have never shot a Glock, but I was looking at one in the local gun store on friday.  It was a Glock 26.  It was sweet.  It had a great trigger and the price was right.  I was ready to slap down the plastic right then and there but I couldn't bring myself to run up the card until I pay off my daughters laptop.  College is expensive.

Go ahead Tab, try it with a 1911, I can guarantee the end result. But just go for it. Polymer does have its place, Too bad we cannot do tenifer in the states, it is awesome.

TAB, Why do you think it's called "SAND PAPER"  As a woodworker you you are being dishonest by dismissing the abrasive qualities of sand.  As for the rest of your comment it just makes you look foolish, cement soft ? If lead .22 bullets won't hurt steel, how come steel plates on .22 targets get so beat up ? Your trying to be contrary and just wind up looking like a fool who doesn't know what he's talking about.

Jkwas, I have shot a Model 17 and the compact .45 only bad thing I can say is it isn't a single action trigger. Get used to that and it's as good as anything else for a lot less money than some of the guns that don't work any better.

Post by: TAB on July 12, 2009, 09:11:26 PM
he just barried it, he did not work the action, so the ammount of sand that got into the weapon was very small.

Tom you and I both know there is a huge diffrence between the mild steal used to make 22 plate and the steal used to make slides.  sub sonic soft lead 22s  barly take off latex paint on 22 target.

just like there is a huge diffrence between cement and comcreate.

Tom, was it the Glock 30 or Glock 36 in .45 ACP? Been looking at the Glock 30 to accompany my Glock 21 SF. Love the .45 ACP round. The recoil on my Glock 21 SF is not much different than my G22 RFT, ,40 S&W nor my old G17 9mm. My boys shot them all very well and not too shabby for a 12 and 14 year old boys. My 12 year old can outshoot most of the people on my range!!! Ok, if not most, the majority. I am a proud father!!!

The 36 is I believe a 6 or 7 rounder and is slimline. Great for undercover or CCW. The Glock 30 is a 10 rounder. Been eyeing one for about a month now. Pretty much getting rid of all 9 mm's I own and bumping up to all .40 S&W or .45 ACP.

I went this weekend and fondled a Mod 23 for $575.00 uh,.......last year a NIB Mod 22 went for 450... I like "G" guns and will cave to the dark side one day, but will not be gouged, and stick with my M+P for $450.

It's total ambi, (for us left handers), and will run right with the darkside. 8)

Smith and Wesson bumped up their prices over 15%. Probably due to the recalls for other weapons.  :o My Smith and Wesson 9mm Compact is over $600. All other S&W MP's at our local shop are all well over $600 and pushing $700.

If I were buying a Glock I would either get the Model 20 for fun and a lot less than a Delta Elite or Bren 10 or I would get the Model 17 to maximize the benefit of the double column mag.
By the way, It was the Model 36, took the same number of rounds as my 1911 (Which is the only .45 acp I would own  ;D  )

If I owned a 1911 I would be happy also. Really like the STI's.  The Glock 20 is sweet but it is hard as hell to find 10mm around here. Plus, unlike other states, you cannot hunt with a 10mm here. You can with a .41 Magnum, not 10mm. Cause I was thinking about getting one if I could hunt with it.
