I was back in the hospital for almost TWO WEEKS!
I had my gall bladder removed...got an infection...went back into the hospital. Thought I was better...got released. Then got re-infected (staph) and damned near killed me.
The had to de-breed almost 6 pounds of funky tissue from my abdomen, now I have an open wound that is "healing" from the inside out.
The doc didn't give me the post-op anti-biotics I was SUPPOSED to get, and so...got the first damnd infection.
UGH.
Anyway, I am home now, and will be putting holsters together soon. (As soon as I can sit up for more than ten minutes at a time without my guts wanting to slide out!)
Sorry I have been out of touch...no wi-fi in the hospital.
-
Sorry to hear what you've been through.
From reports of some people around here that went through the same thing it is tough but beatable.
Take care of yourself, and keep us posted.
I expect to see some really dandy leather work now that you are going to have some time ;)
-
Glad your on the mend Frisco.
Now stay out of the hospital.... ;D
-
Watch that wound and take all of the antibiotics they give you. A buddies wife just went through a tough time healing due to infections. Took her 8 months!
SOOOOO, be good and follow the Doctors orders! Don't push yourself.
-
Hang in there Frisco and will keep ya in my prayers. Nasty stuff there. Hope you get to feeling better soon. I know you were going through withdrawal in there, LOL. ;D Take care
-
Get healed well, we miss your posts when this stuff happens .
-
Glad that you're home and on the mend.
Get better Frisco!!!

Sorry to hear about your illness. I know most of us don’t like involving lawyers but in this case, given your resulting infection and complications, it sounds like you may need to find a good attorney. You may need ongoing care that will not be covered by your insurance or even Obama-Care. Just a suggestion.
-
You are in our prayers

Take care.
-
Frisco, glad my gall bladder op went much smoother than that. Take it easy, get better fast, and stay with us, man.
-
Get on the mend............I might need a holster some day. ;) ;D
A lot of people think GB surgery is no big deal but there are a ton of complications that can happen. We had one butcher sugeon that cut the biliary duct too short and had it snap back into the liver. The pt had to have a transplant surgeon go back in to fix the problem.
Don't be afraid to ask questions and/or for second opinions.
-
Glad to have you back Frisco. Get well soon.
-
Hang in there young man, hospitals have become very, very filthy places. Try and stay out of them....especially THIS time of year!
Glad your on the mend...

Frisco:
Was wondering what happened to you. I've missed reading your keen insight and rapier wit.
Take care of yourself, dude!!
And I agree that it might be time to talk to a lawyer, but not a GOOD one, since the only good lawyer is a dead lawyer, you might want to try and find one that is still alive. ;D
Anyway, take care of yourself and you'll be in my prayers.

Wishing you a speedy and complete recovery Frisco.
-
Just when I was feeling sorry for myself....... you made me realize how lucky I am.
Get better soon. Mend. Mend, I say!
-
Yeah, it has been a red white and true blue motherhumper of a month. I am FEELING better unless I move too much and the wound starts to slosh around.
My family Doc, who is AWESOME, got involved and got me to a new surgeon and wound care specialist who is on top of this. My insurance pays for a nurse to come in daily and re-do my dressings, and clean it out. Nasty business that!
My wife did get me a get-well-soon present though...she bought me an AR lower and gathered up all the parts from my parts bis and boxes for me to assemble another evil black rifle project while I am mending. I am putting together an M4-gery this time with all the tacticool crap I usually avoid, just for a change of pace.
It could have been done by now, but it it tough to sit for more than ten or fifteen minutes at a time. The Doc says I will be down for another week or so before they will let me do more than that.
For now, I am watching all of my John Wayne and Tom Selleck dvd's....I already did Lonesome Dove, Return To Lonesome Dove, Dead Man's Walk, and Commanche Moon, Pat Garrett and Billy The Kid, and The Wild Bunch. Bring Me The Head Of Alfredo Garcia made my wife cringe..... ;D
-
Glad your home Frisco, keep on the regimen, and get back to the leather soon.
Take Care.

Frisco, nasty scare, just back myself, but not near as bad, Take your temp every hour, at home that is the only indication you will get, if it elevates, go back to the hospital, staph, is nasty and way too common today. Don't dismiss it, your temperature. I'm glad you have a wound care specialist, that helps, but infection can go fast, if the specialist only comes every 24 hrs, that could be too long, especially for an organ repair, it can happen on the inside where it is not visible.
For entertainment, try Thief, Old school, and Heat new school.
Get better Bro.

Hell, that movie made me cringe. Lots of quality Peckinpah mayhem and nudity though, can't beat that with a stick!

You good with stitching, right? If you get tired of that open wound just sew it on up! ;D ;D
Absolutely kidding of course. Just glad to hear you are on the mend. Be sure to keep up with all the meds and try to be lazy for awhile. Wish you a speedy recovery. Remember, chicks dig scars!

Had a golf ball sized gallstone last year....hurt like HELL! Surgery went better than yours! Listen to your Dr. and get better sooner.
Richard
PS: Then get a good lawyer to sue the old Dr. for not giving you the antibiotics like he should have!
PPS: Is there such a thing as a good lawyer??????

Parker & Waichman. http://www.yourlawyer.com Martindale-Hubbell gave them an AV-Rating.
Sick 'em Frisco. That doc needs to be sued.

Did somebody say something about a movie with nekkididity? Can we screen it in the corner? ;D

And knowing Peckinpah, it's probably in slow motion already!
;D

Sorry to hear about your troubles, Frisco....glad to hear you're doing better.
Listen to the doc and get well soon.
Have you watched Streets of Laredo (last in the Lonesome Dove series) yet?
Watched it the other night myself.

Frisco...
good luck on the healing and don't miss out on any of the antibiotics! use it as instructed or it gets worse... I'm sure you already know, but... well.... ok.. just get well bud!
-
Listen to the doc and get well soon.
the bad thing about that.. not all the docs are worth a damn. some con artists and others incompetent. watch out and be safe.

Yeah, I know....it was an asshat doc that got him in the bad spot in the first place.
I was talking about the family doctor he mentioned in his post.
Going to the doctor theses days is like going to Vegas.........except sometimes Vegas has better odds.

recently read 'the doctors killed president washington' it was a collection of medical... F-UPS. good info. all historical stuff, just telling it as it is.
ok.. so the title may be off. but that is close enough. the book is at home and I'm not..

I'm with ya, Deepwater.........doctors probably kill more people than guns every year.
But....we'd still be worse off with out them......you just have to hunt for the good ones......
I was very lucky to have one of the best in the eastern US as my ortho doc.
-
Frisco my friend, sorry to hear how bad things got but so happy to hear that you are on the mend.
-
I'm with ya, Deepwater.........doctors probably exponentially kill more people than guns every year.
Better!

after studying basic meds for my job (I have to take a course every few years to keep my officers license) I understand a litlle more than the average sick guy. now.. living in a third world country I have a chance to see some really weird 'home remedies' that people actually believe in and are prescribed some of this stupid stuff by 'doctors'. it's amazing how gullible people are.
and it's socialized health. the state hospital kills more people than it saves and I've told my wife that if anything ever happens to me to never take me to the state hospital. we use a private clinic and pay VERY little compared to US prices. but it is good care.
anyway, hope your current care is more competent than the first

IIRC the statistic is that US doctors kill 180,000 patients per year. That's more than guns, drugs and cars COMBINED. :o

Any body heard how Frisco has been doing lately?
-
Been a week since Frisco last posted. Anyone have contact with him??? ???
-
I have his mailing address.
-
Is he married or at least have someone who could respond to snail mail?
-
I believe he is married.
-
I believe he is married.
Frisco's wife is an active duty Police Officer in the area that he resides. She's probably taking some time while he recuperates.

Thanks, Haz...... and like FQ said, please let us know if you find out something........
I really hope all is well with Frisco and that it's just computer related technical difficulties keeping him away and not health issues.
-
I have emailed and sent him PM but no responses. Have tried to google also but have not found anything. I too hope he is allright.
