Just received word that my cousins son stepped on a land mine in Afghanistan. He is alive, but lost his right leg, has a broken let leg and arm. He is still in country and will be transported to Germany ASAP. His mother got to talked to him on the phone. He was heavily sedated, but seemed to be in good spirits considering. Please add him and his family to your prayers.

Done and will do!
Not to diminish what you have said, but is this still considered life threatening or just the normal bad things that can happen after major trauma?
This will be a long time recovering and adjusting - let him know we care, and keep us informed.
-
The way his mother talked the worst was over and he was stable and awake. He will have a lot of recovering to do, with all the physical therapy and stuff. But at least they can do wonders now with prosthetics.
-
We got your back Cookie62. PT is a bitch and then the mental recovery. Will continue with the prayers!!!
-
Prayers for both him and his family will go out. They will continue as you keep us updated. Could you please share his first name with us?
-
You got it. Send him our encouragement to get back in the saddle during his PT. He and his family have got a place in my prayers.
-
Cookie, let the boy know how there is a huge family of people out here that he does not know who are rooting for his quick recovery, covering him in prayers, and thankful for his service.
-
As everyone else has said, he is in my prayers and thoughts.
Please forward my best wishes for a speedy recovery.
-
Done, 1st name please.
-
I too will pray for him and family.
bud, why don't you hook him up with DRTV so we can all tell him personally how much we appreciate what he's done. maybe a little therapy can be had from our gallows humor and family. I think he would do well here.

A Prayer for this brave soldier on Sunday
"I can do all things through Christ, which strengthens me."
PHP 4:13
O Lord, we call upon You in our time of need for this soldier,
That You give him the strength and will to bear the heavy
burdens, until he can again feel the warmth and love of Your
divine compassion. Be mindful of him and have mercy on him
while he struggle's to comprehend life's hardships. Keep him
ever in Your watch, until he can walk again with light heart
and renewed spirit.
Lord God, may we be grateful for our lot, and compassionate
toward all those who are suffering every kind of distress at
this difficult time. May we hold back nothing,
and hasten to be the ministers of prayer and mercy, like the
disciples of Him who went about doing good in times of need.
Amen.
Hope he gets word about how many are praying for his fast recovery, and the admiration and respect of his sacrifice for our country.

Very nicely said TW.
The hopes and prayers of millions of Americans go out to this young man and all of our heroes in the Middle East, Korea and all areas of strife in these difficult times.
Give him our best as well and thank him for his sacrifices, truly one of our best and brightest!

Here's the latest update:
He's got back in the states today, he is at Walter Reed with his wife. His mother is going there after they get a couple days together first. He lost the lower part of his right leg bellow the knee, 2 fingers on his left hand, and has a broken left arm. He is in good spirits. His mom lost her left arm in an accident when she was 3. She has done an amazing job with one arm, and I think that will help John get through this. Please keep him and his family in your prayer.
