A teenage boy shot and killed an intruder in his Spring Branch home Thursday. According to police, the boy was sleeping alone in the home on Kerrwood when he said a man kicked in his back door.

God bless him and I hope he keeps his head clear.  Tough call for a kid.

The kids dad seems very on top of things. He had his son prepared for just such an event. They said that the young man is getting counseling. He seemed like a very mature and level headed teenager. As you said Haz, God bless him.

If the Brady bunch had their way, the ending would probably have been tragic.

Home town area, God bless him and you guys are right, level headed, did what needed to done, no need to hang his head in shame, I hope counseling does not give him a guilt complex, shooting or killing another, is tough, but if you know your in the right, like this, kid, it should be " man tried to kill me, I did not let him " end of story. No guilt, maybe and I mean maybe, sorrow.

None of us want to be in his situation, but we hope we do as well, if confronted.

The wrong counselor could have the brave young man in therapy for years.
I hope all works out for the kid.
He did what he had to and should bear no shame.

You just know that there is a better than average chance that unless the Bradys beat them to it, the intruder's family is going to sue this brave young man's family for having an unlocked firearm in the house and giving this man the training to use it properly  >:(

I pray that the same level of common sense that lead the family to be prepared for this situation prevails when they find professional help to get the kid through this without harmful emotional scars.  There is no hope for no scars, because his life changed for ever, so we can only hold our for a positive change.  At least we can praise the fact that the family is facing a changed course of life rather than a funeral.
