Staff Reports

A 15-year-old boy who was shot in the mouth in a drive-by shooting Sunday night literally spit out the bullet when paramedics arrived to treat him. He was not seriously injured, and police have arrested the shooting suspect.

The victim's name hasn't been released at this time, but police and paramedics at the scene said the boy was up and walking around when they arrived at the scene. He was later treated at a hospital.

One person has been arrested for the incident that occurred shortly after 10 p.m. Sunday at the McDonald's Restaurant parking lot, 2440 8th Ave. According to police spokesman Sgt. Joe Tymkowych, several juvenile boys, 15 and 16 years old, were involved in the incident. Police have arrested a suspect they believe was the shooter, and he is being held in the juvenile center.

Tymkowych said the shooting accelerated after words were exchanged between people in a car and some boys at the drive-in, who were with a bicycle club. The teens in the car may have been gang members, police said, and were wearing gang colors.

After words were shouted back and forth between the groups, one of the people in the car fired at the bicyclists with a small-caliber handgun. The bullet hit the boy in the lip, passed through his gums, and apparently stopped in the boy's mouth.

He spit out the bullet when ambulance paramedics arrived to treat him. The boy was up and walking around when help arrived, according to Dale Lyman, spokesman for the Union Colony Fire/Rescue Authority.

He was taken to North Colorado Medical Center, where he was treated and released.

Investigation into the case continues, and anyone with information or anyone who may have witnessed the shooting is asked to call the Greeley police at 350-9600.

I can't remember where I saw it (strategypage.com I think), but there was a soldier in Iraq that came face to face with a BG while clearing a house.  The BG shot the soldier in the face (uppper lip) with a 9mm.  It only broke out one of the soldier's front upper teeth and lodged in the upper jaw.  The commentary ran something along the lines of how the BG must have felt. "Allah is not pleased.  That was a quality head shot and this American just spit out a tooth and kept coming."  That would be enough to scare anyone that didn't have the forethought to keep firing... :)

And the kid will have one hell of a story to tell for the rest of his life......."let me tell you 'bout the time I caught a bullet with my teeth......"

Glad he's OK.

I have a working Mosquito and haven't had problem one with it.  I got it used for $299 and it has the threaded barrel.  Either I got the luck of the draw or you and Haz picked up the problem children.

You have the special "good" one, all the rest suck. Some one else on here bragged about having that one but they had to post again shortly afterwards to say that theirs had started sucking as well, so you may have just jinxed yours by bragging on it.

To mix a couple of threads, the raccoon that went to the big hollow tree in the sky may beg to differ.  I still have some work to do, however, the rest of the family still stops by for a visit.

Quit rubbing it in.

But hey, if you don't need that threaded barrel wanna make a swap?

Sorry, I just saw this.  I am planning on getting a suppressor for .22s.  The Mosquito and the 10/22.  And if it is possible, I would like to get one that works with my .223 as well.  It seems you have some experience with suppressors.  How difficult is it to procure one?  I know there is some paperwork, I am just looking for some pointers.

MB wrote or spoke on this a while back. Order the tax stamp and wait until it arrives before getting the suppressor. Check the ATF site for the paperwork required.

IITC ATF is now claiming that the barrel attachment adapter is now a suppressor in and of itself, so you can't get a spare for a second or third weapon. For me, the key issue with suppressors is the cost. In the case of a 10/22, the cost is way more than the cost of the rifle.

My Dad has seen this happen.

Him and my grandfather used to drive and ambulance in the small town where he grew up.  He told me they responded to a fellow shot during a barfight,  this dude got a .22 short stuck in his mouth and shot.  Dad says the dude spit the bullet out on the way to the hospital.
