Title: Rep. Conyers: I can’t read the health care bill - it's too long and complicated
Post by: WatchManUSA on July 27, 2009, 05:07:19 PM
During his speech at a National Press Club luncheon, the chairman of the House Judiciary Committee, Democratic Congressman John Conyers (D-Mich.), questioned the point of lawmakers reading the health care bill.
“I love these members, they get up and say, ‘Read the bill,’” said Conyers. “What good is reading the bill if it’s a thousand pages and you don’t have two days and two lawyers to find out what it means after you read the bill?”
Of course he is not my Representative but it makes me wonder how many other Representatives and Senators share his opinion.
Mr. Conyers, if you or any other Representative or Senator are unwilling or unable to read and understand what laws you are passing perhaps the PEOPLE should fire your lazy ass!

Great post WatchMan. You hit the 10 ring again.
It is a disgusting reality that so many of our "Lawmakers" don't care enough or aren't smart enough to understand the legislation that they pass. Unforgivable!!! >:(

He doesn't want to read it because he can't see it anymore. At 80, I think he's overstayed his welcome and like his drivers license, he should be tested annually to make sure he has all his faculties.
Come on Michigan, get rid of these guys! That asshat has been there long enough!

I'd love to get rid of him, but he's not in my voting district thank goodness. He will be reelected as long as he is breathing.

10 feet of rope and a 12 foot tree should solve that problem.
Short drop and a sudden stop, eh?

The sad truth is that most of them do think this way. Heck they are voting on bills that are not even finished yet and passing them. Soon they will suggest a bill name and a brief description, pass it, and then write in what they want... :(

Unfortunately Conyers is from a district in Detroit that will vote for him no matter how bad or stupid he is. His wife just went to jail for taking bribes. Conyers staff says he didn't know anything about it. Bull feathers! The Detroit media will not cover when he screws up like this. Bad business in Detroit. And they wonder why the newspapers here are dying. Sheesh. The local Fox station is about as bad.

How about for every one that they pass they have to take two off the books. Ok, maybe a dozen.

The biggest problem is that we do not have enough Dr's and Nurses for the 253 million people currently covered, add another 47 million to that and no matter how much money you throw at the problem, just the Dr/patient ratio will make rationing of health care a necessity.

It's ok Tom. We have enough piano wire for the 535 idiots that are pretending to run this country. We may run out however, when we get to the 44,000 Csars appointed by Obama that ARE running the country....Right into the ground.

I've said it before and I'll say it again. If you think healthcare is expensive now, just wait until it's "free"!!

You all do know that the no-smoking laws in federal buildings applies to everyone and everywhere, EXCEPT, to congress's personal offices!
WHAT A CROCK.
Here is another one. It's a federal crime to have a Cuban cigar in the U.S. Unless to are a member of congress. >:(

Rep. Tom Price of Georgia admonishes the Democrat government-takeover of health care.
Congresssman Tom Price appeared on Fox News with Sean Hannity to discuss the non-stimulus bill, which was pushed through Congress by Democrats without allowing time for a full reading of the bill's text.
Though Congress voted unanimously to a searchable electronic version of the bill online for 48 hours before taking any further action, Democrats ignored the vote. The bill text was finalized just before midnight on Thursday, and Democrats passed the bill the following afternoon.
