I just got signed up so haven't gone through the volumes of subjects, but the suspense is killing me! Is AARP now doing an about face and going to be pro-gun? Since when? Great news!!! Or was I mislead about their history of being anti-gun?

Good question. Gresham had the head of the LA chapter of the ACLU on a few weeks back, they are backing a pro-2A case. She also said the national ACLU was going to re-evaluate their position on the 2A, but ddon't hold your breath.
As for the ad, air time is air time, the ACLU or their agency may not have bought that specific time slot, but instead bought a package where it will run X times in prime time for $Y. I made the same comment about Progressive insurance which is anti 2a, hell, just about anti-everything that made this country great. It is called Progressive (in the same way bho and Hillery are Progressives) for a reason.
BTW, if you haven't already, please stop by the the Down Range Cafe and look for the New Members thread. Then tell us a bit about yourself and get a "proper" welcome in return.

I can't speak for the ACLU, but for AARP it is all about demographics. They aren't nearly as interested in what show they advertise on, but who is watching these shows. Shooters and hunters are an aging population, and that is who AARP ... and Enzyte want to reach. Ever notice all the Enzyte, Viagra and Cialis commercials on shooting and hunting shows?
I also wonder if AARP even knows they are supporting a shooting show. I think they are buying time slots with either the Outdoor Channel or a dish or cable company for a set demographic in a set time slot. They may hear the name of the show, but they are more interested in the timing of the ads and who is watching them.

Various versions of this are going around the net, mostly with Clint Eastwood's picture from "Grand Torino". Here's my version of an AARP card

Now that's an AARP that I proudly send my money to.
Thanks Alf!!!
