BROWARD COUNTY
Tempers flare in South Florida over healthcare overhaul
A raucous group of about 100 protesters confronted staffers of U.S. Rep. Ron Klein, expressing their displeasure with the health care plan.

Confrontation over a national healthcare overhaul reached South Florida on Wednesday, when routine office hours for the staff of a Broward-area congressman turned into a raucous protest.

***Yes it did,.... ::)***

The incident is like others that reflect nerves frayed by the nationwide debate. Democrats decry what they describe as a mob rule orchestrated by special interests trying to protect the status quo; Republicans call it genuine grass-roots concern over a costly government takeover.

***The tar and feathers were in the car, but my timing and the candidate were NOT there***

Though only a handful of constituents typically show up at the Lighthouse Point public library once a month with questions for U.S. Rep. Ron Klein's staffers -- often questions about Social Security checks or passport applications -- this time about 100 people packed the room for two hours.

The group was rowdy, rude and fired up about healthcare.

``Where the hell is Klein?'' demanded Republican activist Ana Gomez-Mallada, even though the congressman was not scheduled to be there. Others branded him a ``coward'' and a ``communist.''

From Texas to Pennsylvania, protesters have disrupted town halls. In North Florida, an effigy of a congressman, Allen Boyd, was tarred and feathered; in New York, a congressman had to be escorted to his car by police.

****

Had to go, its right down the road,.. by the time the meeting was over there were seven BSO vehicles in the parking lot.  Someone was worried about us swastika organized unruly "mob"... I was about the youngest one there, except for a few, and I'm almost 40,.. :P

Klein is a PU**Y, &  will do a "telephonic" meeting soon,....

It felt good, and there were people that were more pissed off than me.  Met, retired Lt. Col. Jason Abbott, 2nd Recon, USMC, uh, it was lucky for them he was only "slightly" pissed....

I got there into the wait, and I will be honest, there is the "pressure" cooker that has been referenced on previous posts.

It is really reaching its last few "CLICKS"...

People are pissed, not just about Obamacare, but about the whole gov't package. There are Democrats, that aren't full blown Pelosi, Boxer types, as well as, Republicans pissed at their Party's lack of testicular fortitude in confronting the sham being put upon this country.

I am glad people that wouldn't normally "get involved" ARE GETTING INVOLVED.

Send an email, write a letter, leave a message, takes 5 minutes out of your day, but may remind the politicians of whom they serve.

"Cherish, therefore, the spirit of our people, and keep alive their attention. Do not be too severe upon their errors, but reclaim them by enlightening them. If once they become inattentive to the public affairs, you and I, and Congress, and Assemblies, Judges, and Governors, shall all become wolves."
Thomas Jefferson

The wolves are out,....and it will be up to US to "enlighten" them in regards to public affairs...

Way to go.

The lapdog media will always spin this and any oposition as organized disruptions of the rightwing.  This and anything and anyone that has legitmate opposition to any of the liberal programs and causes will be dismissed as a racist, dangerouse, vocal, rightwing extremist that is in the minority.  No one is allowed dissent.   Like we all know the lapdog media is the servent of the left.  The liberal a$$hats are believing their own propaganda and are in denial that many citizens are disgruntled.  They are in for a very rude awakening when they tumble from their eletist throne.

Glad there were no union thugs there,....they would have had a real bad time getting their ass kicked by retired Marine, and "Other" folks, (including myself), that believe in self defense.

The quote "Don't Taze Me Bro" comes to mind.... ::) ;)

Can't be an electrician, without a couple "sparky toys".... 8)

We have a town hall next week with Conrad, who IIRC is up for re-election next year. We'll see if he actually shows, or if some "important work" in DC keeps him from physically showing up and just phoning it in.

Update: My bad, it is Dorgan who is appearing and is up for re-election. He will be in Fargo and Casselton on the 12th, and in fact is blanketing the state with town halls. Should be interesting.

According to one map I saw, his cohort in congressional crime Conrad is AWOL this recess - except for a big fund-raiser in the western part of the state.

It's funny how they aways mention that the people were bussed in. When Mayor Daily busses 500 kids to Springfield from the Chicago schools to promote his anti agenda (they get a free field trip), nobody says a word.

Conrad, along with Dodd just got a pass from the Senate Ethics Committee for the sweetheart deals they got on their mortgages.
Senate Ethics, talk about the ultimate oxymoron.
