Title: Continuing Podcast Issues
Post by: rickomatic on August 07, 2009, 12:22:02 AM
For the 4th week now I only get a couple minutes of podcast downloaded for Downrange Radio. I even tried downloading the MP3 seperately, and still only got a part of the broadcast. I know that it is not an issue with either my Zune or computer, because I subscribe to at least 6 other podcasts and have never had this problem with them. They all download perfectly. Downrange Radio also downloaded great until 4 weeks ago. I am at a loss. I love the podcasts and miss not hearing them. Do you guys have ANY idea how to resolve this?
I know others are having the same problem. Thanks.

Hi Rickomatic,

I moved your post to the cafe from the support board to give it this topic a little more attention from others....

I want to know how many out there are having similar problems.

We receive around 3-4 reports a month from listeners having this problem.

Our challenge is that we are not able to replicate the problem through our internet lines and on the different computers we use for testing. So.... we need a little more details to help you all out.

In most instances, it has to do with the internet connection. You can have the connection speed required to listen to audio or watch videos, but you also need a constant connection. I have personally experienced problems with wireless connections being interrupted which will cause the streaming to stop. It can also be a problems with the ISP hookup (modem) and high traffic at our server at the time of streaming.

A couple of times I have had the pod cast cut short on me (this week at the 41 min mark) but if I reload it from the archive I can pick up where it left off with no more trouble.
P.S. Cable Modem, no wireless.

I have not had an issue my self

however I would blame the Zune  just caus it is a Zune

now seriously

what version OS  are you using   also if you get info ( properties  in winblowz ) on the file how large are the podcast that you have downloaded

show 120  should be 22.1mb  it plays for 48.14 mins file type is .mp3

have you got another media player  like iTunes / quicktime / VLC installed   if you do  and the file is 22.1mb  try opening it in that app and play the file to see if that works

I've been having this problem, but I get maybe about half the podcast. Computers... ::) I know the first time this iissue came up, we were told o restart the cast we were trying to listen to, and that doesn't want to work. How would we open the cast in other apps to see if that works?

just so i get this correct

those that are having the issue  are using windows  with a Zune ??

not having a Zune ( not available in Aust. )

I guess they use Windows media player as the RSS software  and to transfer the podcasts to it.

try looking at iTunes  and subscribe to the RSS feed via the itunes store  go to podcasts and look up downrange tv  it will come up and let you subscribe that way

or  http://juicereceiver.sourceforge.net/  I have not used it my self however it seems to be ok

the zune has its own software for windows. any one can download it and use it with out the zune. it has a podcast manager part. and it seems that in that part it has a hard time downloading the downrange podcasts. i realy like my zune 80. i have alot of movies and podcasts on it. shoot i have over 40 gigs of podcasts on it. but the computor sides of the software sucks. i have to some times click on the look for updates button some times to get the newest podcast. and the last few downrange tv podcasts have not been downloading fully. it is very frustrating.

The latest podcast downloaded and played completely.  8) I'll have to get nostalgic and listen to the older ones to see if they'll work.

yes it is posible to download other ways. and yes i have tried downloading from the website. the last time i tryed to
download from the website it wanted to only give me a little over 4mb. i did not try listioning to it couse i was sure
that it was not the whole podcast. you can download any mp3 or audio file that window will play. you just have to
tell the zune software what folders you want to watch for syncing with your zune. if its not marked as a podcast
it will be thought of as a music file and listed there, instead of in the podcast collection. the zune software is basicly
microsofts version of itunes. it will list and organise your audio and video files and play them and conect you to the
zune marketplace. oh and i have used itunes to get some podcasts. i just have the zune watch the folders itunes
downloads to. i am a little anti apple so i dont like using itunes.  the new zune hd will be around 110 dollars less
then the ituch, and it will have the same amount of memory.

One week that problem happens for me, the next it doesnt. The most recent problem was sheriff Jim's song stopped and so did the podcast.

Somehow I fiddled with it, don't ask me how because it was in the middle of the night and I dont remember, but I was able to make the podcast play till the end.
