Cash-strapped Cuba says toilet paper running short
Reuters
Fri Aug 7, 3:00 pm ET
HAVANA (Reuters) – Cuba, in the grip of a serious economic crisis, is running short of toilet paper and may not get sufficient supplies until the end of the year, officials with state-run companies said on Friday.
Officials said they were lowering the prices of 24 basic goods to help Cubans get through the difficulties provoked in part by the global financial crisis and three destructive hurricanes that struck the island last year.
Cuba both imports toilet paper and produces its own, but does not currently have enough raw materials to make it, he said.

Speaking of Cuba, the Cash for Clunkers could go to Cuba, instead of being destroyed, something newer than a 1959 Plymouth would really appeal to the average Cuban...

We don't grow bananas in this country, but that's alright, we have corn husks.

Was thinking the same thing. Plus there are always the worthless Newspapers. Catalogs don't work so well anymore with all the waxy coating on them. ;)

provoked in part by the global financial crisis
Provoked in part, by a corrupt communist gov't that has isolated itself into chronic poverty. Not even Hugo Chavez, or Russia, can deal with them to any economic benefit. European tourists are just a trickle because once you leave the resort areas, crime is rampant.
I say we trade our "clunkers" for cigars, oh, and toilet paper for i don;t know what else does Cuba have?? NOTHING

Don't forget the worthless currency, after it's been in circulation a while it's fairly soft.
