Title: Mossberg 500 Question
Post by: Hazcat on October 27, 2007, 04:47:03 PM
Just picked one up used and I'm curious about the the MFG date.  Anyone know where I can match up SN# to MFG Date?

Not sure why that's important but I would try the Mossberg collectors group. Last time I was on the Mossberg site I think there was an address for the collectors group. Or contact Mossberg directly and maybe they can supply the info?

How do like the Mossberg 500?  I'm thinking about getting a Mossberg 500 20 guage slug.

I have a 20 gauge Mossberg 500 with a Knoxx Stock.  The regular Mossberg 500 series Knoxx stocks fits very nicely.

I have always been happy with it.

Having owned a Mossberg 500 12 gauge for over 20 years, I think I can comment on them. It is one of the BEST pump shotguns out there for the money, They always work if properly maintained. I bought mine as a hunting/target gun and ended up using it while teaching Hunter Safety classes. I have never had any problems with it as far as failure to fire, feed or eject.I can't say how many rounds have been through this firearm but it has to be in the high thousands low ten thousands. The only thing I have ever done with it as far as replacement was to put in a Wolfe trigger spring kit in it. I will end this by saying that for the money, You won't go wrong with a Mossberg 5oo shotgun, they will serve you and your heirs well for many years.
