August 7,2009 Camp Perry, Ohio
California Grizzlie's (The California state junior rifle team) won the top honors in the National Trophy Infantry Team Match (aka. Rattle Battle) by scoring and an aggregate score of 1284, just a slim 9 points ahead of the second place team Forbes Rifle & Pistol Club. The AMU came in forth with 1211 points.
This six man team, coached by Jim O'Connell, broke several records. Not only did they break the junior record set last year(also by the Grizzlie's), This was the first civilian team win since the 1930's and was the first junior team win ever in the history of the match.
Go Grizzlie's
Thought that everyone would like to know that sometimes something good comes out of California
if this is in the wrong spot, just move it, Thanks

The future of America is not all bleak! Good shootin'!

Good to know that hope still exists for Ca.

Congrats guys on a great competition!
There's still hope for Calif., and if we can only get shooting sports back into MIT!
-
Thanks for the good news.

Well done CA Juniors! Wooping on the AMU, ANG and Marines all on the same day. Outstanding job.
I read about it here on the weekend.

I sure can appreciate the work and skill it takes to earn a DM patch.

Well Done. There used to me exponentially more sponsored youth shooting teams and competitions...
It's a shame such a good sport, is being eroded by funding, and the anti's...
I hope they keep winning. Great shooting.

WOW. I was just watching re-run on the National Match and they were talkin' (braggin' actually) how a civilian team had never won Rattle Battle.
Good shootin' Grizzleies.

Right on.
I keep telling you, we have more gun owners in CA then many states have population.
