Title: AARP MEMBERS
Post by: Rastus on August 10, 2009, 07:25:34 PM
Hey guys, the AARP has a link to a political hack they are running to support the damnable healthcare bill.  If you log on to their website at www.aarp.org (http://www.aarp.org) you can see the link http://www.healthactionnow.org/ (http://www.healthactionnow.org/) where they supply you supportive liberal information that goes to your congressmen.  They lead off with some red herring questions to take you off the mark, so expect to see real things and statements that have no real meaning.

Well, they have also screwed up and allowed you to change the wording in the response to the congressmen.  So, if you are a member and feel so inclined, you may want to input what you feel should be transmitted by the AARP instead of what AARP leaders want you to say.  If you feel like telling the congressmen that the AARP doesn't represent it's members but tries to control them like liberal fascists...well, say what you will if you are a member.    ;)

Oops, they missed that one, didn't they?   ;D

Since AARP is my enemy, I throw out their mailings without ever opening the envelopes.

Everyone that I know, that had made the mistake of joining the AARP, is leaving as fast as possible.

Their political stance will cost them dearly.

Can you say backpedaling - HARD!!!?

http://www.foxnews.com/politics/2009/08/12/obama-claim-aarp-endorsement-inaccurate/ (http://www.foxnews.com/politics/2009/08/12/obama-claim-aarp-endorsement-inaccurate/)

FTA: "A group usually seen as one of Barack Obama's allies in the health care debate -- AARP -- says the president went too far Tuesday when he said the seniors lobby had endorsed the legislation pending in Congress.

AARP is sensitive to the issue because polls show that Medicare beneficiaries are worried their health care program will be cut to subsidize coverage for the uninsured. <and that they are losing members? ? ? >

At the town hall in Portsmouth, N.H., Obama said, "We have the AARP onboard because they know this is a good deal for our seniors." He added, "AARP would not be endorsing a bill if it was undermining Medicare."

But Tom Nelson, AARP's chief operating officer, said, "Indications that we have endorsed any of the major health care reform bills currently under consideration in Congress are inaccurate."

F 'em, cancel the memberships anyhow. They are still in bed with bho.

UPDATE: CBS News is reporting that over 60,000 people have cancelled their AARP memberships in the last 6 weeks.

FTA: "CBS News has learned that up to 60,000 people have cancelled (sic) their AARP memberships since July 1, angered over the group's position on health care.

Elaine Guardiani has been with AARP for 14 years, and said, "I'm extremely disappointed in AARP."

Retired nurse Dale Anderson has 12 years with AARP and said, "I don't wanna be connected with AARP."

Many are switching to the American Seniors Association, a group that calls itself the conservative alternative as CBS News Investigative Correspondent Sharyl Attkisson reports."

+1  I never joined as I too knew they were lefties.  I ALWAYS look into a group before joining.  That is why I can say I belong to the NRA and DRTV and that completes my memberships.
