Title: How much muzzle flash from a 20" .308 barrel?
Post by: grizdiesel on August 12, 2009, 04:25:16 PM
I'm looking to buy a .308 tactical bolt action rifle and really like those that have the 20" barrels.  I know I'll loose some velocity with the 20" barrels vs. the 24-26" ones, but how much muzzle flash can be expected from the 20" barrels using "standard" .308 ammo?  I like the portability of the shorter rifles, but I shoot a lot at night, and I don't want to be blinded everytime I shoot.

There are a couple of guys on here with short barreled .308's that may be able to answer your question.

I know Hornady makes specialty ammo for night shooting that minimizes muzzle flash.
