Title: Ca. going to LOVE this

SACRAMENTO, Calif. – The California Senate, after a highly charged debate, approved a plan Thursday to trim the state's prison population by 27,000 inmates, acting over the objections of Republican lawmakers and law enforcement groups.

The proposal is supported by the Legislature's Democratic majority and Republican Gov. Arnold Schwarzenegger. It would let thousands of inmates be released early from state prison or avoid prison time altogether, and is intended to cut $1.2 billion from corrections spending.

The bill's fate was uncertain late Thursday. The state Assembly delayed meeting for several hours after the legislation squeaked through the Senate, finally scheduling an 8 p.m. session.

Yesterday Yahoo news had a story about Ca. legislature giving their staff a RAISE

Remember, "It's for the children".

a reall simple solution to sex offenders.

let the familys of the vic take care of it.

I know a family member of mine( who passed several year ago) took care of one... they found him dead, naked, castrated and hanging by his penis from a rail road bridge.

I'm sure that I just don't get what is being said, but if he was castrated, how was he hanging from his penis? I'd prefer that families, that have already suffered tremendously, not have to take care of the punishment too. The State should grow a pair and take care of this for them.

Ouch! OK, but I'd have removed everything, preferably with my Benelli.

A graphic illustration of the difference between "legal" and "justice".     ;D

The stupid, sad and infuriating thing about this is that a lot bad guys are going to be let go. The fact is though, that if lawmakers were required to find a revenue source, ie. raising taxes or budget cuts, before they passed a get tough on crime or three strikes law, they might realize that the macho swaggering in campaign adds comes with a price tag. This might require them to revisit drug laws. How many crimes are CAUSED by prohition? How many folks would not have chosen crime if drugs were legal? When was the last time you heard of a "violent beer dealer" being arrested? Honestly, the stupidity, hypocrisy and cowardice of this whole thing makes me want to bang my head against the wall. The solution is simple, obvious and free, yet we don't adopt it.
FQ13 who has decided 4 pm is definately late enough for a beer, if the "dealer" at his grocery store doesn't try to put him in prison in a sting operation ::)

Pop a top for me, too, FQ.  We're in agreement on this issue.

How much money is wasted on welfare, health care, and education?  NONE of these are government business!  Jails and public policing are!

How many of the "drug related" murderers would not have resorted to violence if they had the option of suing the ass off their competitors and receiving a healthy financial settlement ?
How many corrupt cops would have resisted temptation if they weren't constantly exposed to the huge amounts of cash in a business that is no more harmful than booze ?

Yep. He's at Corcoran State with Sirhan Sirhan and Phil Spector. Phil Spector was talked about on the news last night, because he wants to be in prison with people more "like" him. I don't think there is anyone "like" him. At least not since Michael Jackson kicked it.

Sirhan Sirhan, Chuckles Manson and Phil Specter.  They sound like 3 peas in a pod to me.  Especially Manson and Specter.....two psycho killers.

At least Manson had some sort of agenda behind his killings even if it was f^%ked up. Specter is just a spoiled pampered flake  who freaked out because some actress called him "wee willie" or some such

Not to mention the public funds spent to educate, provide healthcare for, provide food stamps to, etc., etc., etc.,...............Californias illegal aliens.
