Title: My BUG and Andy's Leather
Post by: Kid Shelleen on August 24, 2009, 04:18:58 PM
I have had this little Backup Gun for the longest time, but it just wasn't easy to carry.

It's a 4 barrel COP .357 Magnum and it weighs 1.75 pounds empty. It was too heavy to carry in my pocket and I didn't have a safe pocket holster.

They never (that I'm aware of) made a hip holster for this gun and I could never find a holster to fit. As a result my COP (Compact Off-duty Police) stayed in the closet and only got out to go to the range.

A custom holster from our own forum member Andy Langlois and Andy's Leather has changed all that. My COP went out of the house and onto my hip today.

Thanks Andy, my first custom holster and she's a beauty!!! The fit is nice and tight and the finish is great.

If ya'll send business Andys way, he'll do you proud.

Nice looking rig, Kid.  Is that thing a wrist breaker?

It's really not that bad. It's a pussy cat with .38 Special.

It's obviously made for up close and personal.

If I shoot 'em under 10 feet away, I have the added bonus of settin' them on fire. ;D

Do they ever all go off at once like the old pepperboxes used to do?

And why didn't you submit that to the "ugliest gun" thread? I mean, it might have won? ? ? ? ?  ;)

Congrats though on having a home for the hogleg on your hip. Very nice.

THAT THINGS COOL!  I'm thinking not even the dumbest BG is going to challenge you with FOUR barrels pointed at him!!!

Intimidation factor, and knock down power near that of a 12 gauge, and fits under your belt...  NICE!

It's your "backup" gun?!?  So you carry a 40mm launcher as primary?   :o

Thankfully, Path they shoot one at a time.

I followed your advise and posted it in the ugliest gun thread. ;D

A weapon befitting "The Great Humongous."

No doubt. That thing is a conversation piece for sure, and I bet it is a lot of fun at the range.

This is one of the cooler pics from those links.....4 firing pins:

*I would actually hate to take it to a public range. It would be an hour and a half every time just dealing with all the gun guys coming over wanting to take a turn at fondling it and asking questions about it!  :)

Hey Guys!

Kid just sent me the link here, that holster turned out AWESOME! Good molding Kid!

-This is a veg tan leather, molds nicely. Ask Kid, he did the molding, I did the sewing!
-Normally I just make 1911 holsters, but in this case I sent kid the holster blank and had him do some tracing on it. He did the hard work!

That's about as custom as it gets! There's nothing like having an in-house holster maker!

With the weight of that gun, does it have some sort of firing pin safety to stop an inertia strike?

No firing pin safety that I'm aware of. I have never dropped it and I hope to never do so.

The potential for four barrels of .357 Magnum going off at the same time, if dropped, makes handling it an exercise in caution.

Andy is far too modest. I simply followed his very detailed instructions for moulding (I didn't have a clue). Make no mistake, this is an Andy original, that I'll always be very proud to own.

I think that is a FINE LOOKING gun (and a fine looking holster too.). Suggesting that for ugliest... That don't even make the first draft for ugly. I'd like to have one myself. But I wonder, since they've been discontinued for so long, can you actually find parts for the thing if needed?

There was a.22 lr version of the COP too. I wish I had both calibers.

Very nice holster.
