Hi Everyone:
Whenever I ask anyone who has taken the Ohio Concealed Carry Class what was covered, I am told something different and the topics range from Firearm Safety and Laws to Firearm Disassembly/Reassembly. The most common answer that I get is it depends on the instructor who is teaching the class.
I thought that the exams were provided to the instructor by the NRA? If they are, how is the instructor able to determine what is, and is not important?
I do not have a Concealed Carry Permit but I would like know if each instructor is told to give the same information or do they do what they feel what is important to them on safety or with the parts of a gun. This way I could see if what I am being told is true?
Than you, I hope to hear from you soon,
David

I took a class from a NRA Instructor in St. Clairsville and was not suprised that they followed through the NRA Handgun Safety book available from the NRA store as well as the Ohio Concealed Carry Law guide available from the local Sheriffs Dept and from the AG's website

The course does require you to take part in a live fire section where you must demonstrate safe operation and basic ability to hit a target at 20ft. But, yes it does vary depending on the instructor but the basic requirements are suppose to be the same.
