For those of you who need to carry for work (other than LEO) or are fortunate enough to be amongst the lucky few to get a CCW in NJ, I have been informed by our firearms instructor that Federal EFMJ ammunition is legal in NJ.
I asked him if I could carry my Judge - he just laughed and said it was outside of our size specs, but he thought " it sure would put the fear of God into any nitwits". :)

When Col. Khadaffi (sp), shows up for his "tent" event, maybe some "shots" in the distance will help him sleep well....
You guys in NJ are on "short time" for CCW,... the anti gun politicians and their support groups keep getting re-elected, and chipping away...
How about a JHP's....
Plus, if you draw a firearm, in a threatening manner, even without firing a shot, that scared nitwit can have you arrested...
Brandishing to the terror of the public, or communication of threat with a firearm..
maybe even a few more, the "nitwit" laws in NJ aren't in a gun owners favor. :-\
-
TW, JHP rounds are illegal in NJ. They cause too many injuries, and are just deadlier than FMJ. I am surprised that they even allow the EFMJ since it is expanding..

Not to start crap, but hollow point ammo IS legal in NJ. You can own it and you can shoot it at a range. I'm not sure about expanding jacket, but would assume it is the same.
The problem is that you are not permitted to shoot someone with hollow point. It is considered malicious intent because it may cause more damage than ball ammo. You would be prosecuted accordingly, even though LEO carries it for the same reason.
Also in NJ there is no castle doctrine. In order to legally shoot an intruder you must have retreated as far as is physically possible and then must be threatened with imminent death to fire on an intruder.
As far as CCW rights being eroded, they are already gone. NJ is MAY issue, which means, "No". Unless you know a judge an ordinary citizan cannot obtain CCW. Even retired LEO must jump through hoops and qualify twice a year to carry concealed.

Naw, you're not starting crap, hollow point is as you say - ok to own, okay to transport directly to or from a range, unloaded and inaccessible and ok to shoot at the range. But you cannot carry openly or ccw using 'dum dums' (Jersey's terminology) unless you are a police officer. We as armed guards are prohibited from carrying hollow points, and we've been told the Troopers may check our mags for ammo type.

Got to leave a clear path for the refugees from insanity. ;D

The reasons most LE Agencies started carrying JHP rounds in the first place was less for knock-down power than it was to prevent shooting one or two people AFTER the FMJ round goes completely through the BG's body and emerges out the other side.
In my hometown, before they changed to JHP ammo for the PD, there was a BG who walked into the PD one night and started a firefight with the one cop who was in the station at the time. Officer fired 6 rounds, all of which hit the BG and exited his body, passed through a window out of the building, 3 of them coming to rest in the lobby of the bank that is directly across the parking lot from the PD, and the other 3 crossing the street, passing through the window of a church, and coming to rest in various pieces of furniture in the pastor's office. Needless to say, it didn't take long for them to switch to JHP ammo.

Make my gap near Brookline, NH....I'm about 29 miles due south with my move in September.....figure I can cross into NH through the Townsend state forest area.....My NH carry permit renewal finally showed up Friday. ;D
-
Excellent on the permit, I'll leave a gap in the wire and a path through the mines ;D

We're working on leaving and since I'm laid off it may be sooner than later. We're just slaves to some property we own- it's our nest egg and we could lose it all. We're trying to get out gracefully. BUT- I can't argue the fact that it's a terrible place for personal protection and rights.

Well let's see if Corzine is voted out with a bunch of the other socialist there in November. :'(

No, just politicians. They have been grabbing bunches of them for a while in a corruption probe that has been going on for years. 20 here 40 there.

No, just politicians and rabbis. They have been grabbing bunches of them for a while in a corruption probe that has been going on for years. 20 here 40 there.
According to the U.S. attorney's office, the rabbis involved in the ring laundered more than $3 million through Jewish charities over a two-year period beginning in June 2007.

Id just get something like a 44 special revolver and carry soft point ammo. Do they still make charter arms bulldogs?

Yes.

Since this thread has drifted to all things NJ, I thought I'd pass on the content of a Jon Corzine reelection ad I saw last night. This guy gets on tv and ACTUALLY SAYS that during his administration he has brought "X" amount of jobs to NJ, has helped businesses thrive, has controlled property taxes, has increased helath insurance coverage, yatta- yatta-yatta. What an ASSHAT!!!
#2- one of his evil minions (can't remember his name)... the news reported that the guys driver left a loaded handgun in a rental car and had to go back and get it. These are the guys that don't want ANYONE in NJ to be allowed to carry a handgun and just snuck in the one handgun a month law- the guy who drives him around is an ex-state trooper who carries a gun, and can't seem to remember to grab it when they turn in the rental car. This is the world of NJ politics.
