Title: What is the best AK available?
Post by: long762range on August 28, 2009, 01:38:45 PM
I have been thinking of buying an AK.  Who makes or sells the best available?  By best I mean the most reliable which has a least a minute of trash can lid accuracy.

I have shot the FEG, and a Cheap Romanian,

kinda stupid that you can buy them in some 3rd world country for like $20 but here they are $800

why dont they just take all these seized AK's, send them off to colt or somewhere, have them modified to Semi and then sell for $200.

there are 17 million AK's in the world. lets assume that we have seized half a million.

500,000 x 200 = $100,000,000.

thats my stimulus plan.

So, does this mean you might be offering one of your "souveniers" for $200? ;D

If $20 AK's existed in this country would the existing gun companies still be in business?  NO.  THAT'S why the industry & our government keeps us from getting them through a hundred different tricks they have.

The best AK money can buy?  NO brand name will compare to a custom build.  Look on the MANY AK web pages.  They guys who are building, and producing rifles worth top dollar are well known, and earn their pay.  You'll also learn most anybody can put together a half decent rifle from a parts kit, & completed reciever (requires FFL), in a Saturday evening.

AK's - Their beauty is in their simplicity!  ;D

Many arsenals in many countries make their own AKs.  There are differences in options, quality, finish, etc.

Or, are you saying you think that all AKs are poor?

I don't know about the best" AK, but I would look at Classic Arms. They're just a retailer, but have a great rep for customer service. I was referred to them by several folks. I was on the fence about one of their Century AKs (US made so no 922r hassels). Anyway I just by luck got the owner on the phone and expressed my concerns about misalignment of the gas tube with some Centurys. He told me they were hand inspected, but to take it, shoot it and if I didn't like it, send it back. They wouldn't fix it, just send me a new one, and I if didn't like that one, he'd send a third. You can't beat that. I've never done business with them, but I would look there first for an AK. They sell many different brands so you've got a good selection.
