Title: improvised weapons
Post by: Jackel on August 31, 2009, 12:23:23 AM
reading a book the other day, and the guy just escaped a ambush by the CIA or something, now he is laying a trap for them at his home. he decides to build a taser out of a extension cord, broom pole, 2 forks and duck tape.

basically he cuts one end off the extension cord so he is left with a plug and around 30ft of insulated wire with exposed ends. he takes the two wires inside the extension cord and attaches each to two metal forks. he then tapes the forks to a broom pole and plugs the extension cord in.

the idea is that the cord is plugged into a wall socket and the pronged forks create an arc that the electricity jumps on.

this got me thinking, what would i make if i was in a similar situation?

i came up with something i read on another forum.

1 2inch steel tube with a inner diameter or 1.5 inch. this tube has a end cap on with a nail, sharp end up in the tube.

then another tube that will slide inside the first tube easily. the inner diameter of this tube will depend on what ammo you are using. for the sake of the example lets go with 12 gauge.

so now you have your 1st pipe which is your base gun, and your firing barrel.

i would load up the firing barrel with a 12g shell and then slam it down the 1st barrel which, when the nail hits the primer, detonates the shell.

works similar to a mortar tube.

i haven't figured out how i would aim this or shoulder it but im getting there.

so if you were in this situation what would you make/ use.

 Those are called "Guerrilla guns"

Philippine resistance against the Japanese used a single shot slam fired shot gun, they have been marketed in the US since the end of the war.

Jackel, not to piss in your cheerios or anything, but honestly, that 2 inch steel pipe seems like a pretty good weapon to me. Just hit the bastard with it and repeat as necessary. No need to go all Macyver on his ass. Find a good position and then employ what I was taught as a cadet was the "trinity" (long before Emeril hijacked it to mean green peppers, onions and celery). The "trinity" being speed, surprise and violence of action. Screw the home made mortar. Just brain the bastard! ::)

You are describing a type of "zip gun".

It is considered an illegal weapon in all states.

They will throw your butt in jail for possessing one.

PS  the chance that the pipe will detonate is high

Jackel,

Interesting thread and question. I'll have to give it some thought.

12 Gauge shell - improvised land mine (intended to take out car tires)

I'd guess most here have seen the military's improvised booby trap using 12 gauge shells, a rat trap, and a trip wire.   :(

I've seen those when on emergency runs  >:(  When in training I got to do ride along with big city/county service.  They wore kevlar and in many areas LE went in first, because fire and medical are just considered moving targets.  After one run we were taken back to the scene to see all the danger we faced if we hadn't allowed others to clear the way.

I knew an old man who made a hog prod out of an extension cord by doing just that..... He got the hogs in that trailer with it so it must have worked.....
