Title: Miss california
Post by: Johnny Bravo on September 01, 2009, 12:50:55 PM

LOS ANGELES, Sept. 1 (UPI) -- Ousted Miss California USA Carrie Prejean is suing pageant officials over her dismissal, papers filed in the Superior Court of California show.

Pageant officials said Prejean, 22, was stripped of her title in June because she was uncooperative and failed to live up to the terms of her contract.

However, CNN said Prejean's lawsuit disputes those allegations and accuses pageant officials Keith Lewis and Shanna Moakler, as well as publicist Roger Neal, of libel and religious discrimination.

Prejean claims she was dismissed because she is a Christian who is vocal about her belief that marriage should only be between a man and a woman.

"We will make the case that her title was taken from her solely because of her support of traditional marriage," CNN quoted Prejean's lawyer, Charles LiMandri, as saying in a statement.

LiMandri said he previously appealed to the pageant officials to retract negative statements they made about Prejean in the media, but they didn't.

The news agency did not specify what Prejean is seeking in damages through her lawsuit.

Is it just me or does no one else give a rat's rump who wins a beauty pagent? Why would any self respecitng woman enter one anyway? Its like being paraded around like a dog to have someone judge you best in show. Yikes! Filing a suit so you can remain "fairest of them all"? Please, take your legal fees and buy a life.

First place often involves scholarship money and cash prizes as well as modeling contracts, it can be fairly lucrative and most likely cheaper to fight it than to give back the prizes.

Inasmuch as this is still (for the time being) the USA, this young lady and any others who choose to take part in such competitions have the right to do so, regardless of what you think of them, or the pageant circuit in general.  Furthermore, her lawsuit appears to be on principles.  Does she have 1st amendment rights or doesn't she.  By your comments you appear to be saying that she does not.

That's right tt. She voiced Her opinion when asked. She was honest and supported a traditional marriage. You know, between a man and a women. That's not so fashionable in our times.

By my comments, I neither know nor care. She signed some sort of contract to be the spokes barbie for some ridiculoius group (owned by Trump unless  I'm wrong). They may or may not have terms on what she can say in the contract. If she did what she was supposed to do and is getting screwed out of PC nonsense then I support her. Mostly though, I just think that beauty pagents are more than a bit of a joke, your mileage may vary.

My point was there was a gay judge who didn't appreciate her views on traditional christian marriage. IMHO if her viiews were the opposite nothing would have happened or at least not on that scale. It's ok to voice your opinion from the left but not the right.
I can't tell you how much I enjoy this site. I appreciate your different views and oppinions. I am learning so much about firearms and SD. I grew up with guns and was taught to respect them and the right to have them. I'm no expert but have been lucky in recent years to be able to purchase guns I've always wanted and hopefuuly I'll get more. I'm still kinda new and I'm not always sure where to put a stoy or topic. I'll try to pay more attention in the future. I think this is a very rare site and I thank you all.

No problemo, Johnny Bravo, now that there is a pic to go with the OP, it's all good. My question is how can this judge continue to be gay?

Reference pic above....

You are right that her answering the question in HER personal opinion, was not PC enough for the panel. This gay judge also got smacked and was crying like a baby on his website shortly after.

But the majority of California is more mainstream than the idiots that somehow keep electing the politicians...

But it's still California.. :-\

Several things here.  These pageants ARE self serving, money making endeavors for the producers.  These pageants are also launching pads for very lucrative careers in advertising, modeling and other things for these young women and as Tom indicated, there is huge money involved for the top girls.

The problem with THIS pageant was "the Donald" and the wingnut homo judge, Perez Hilton.  He asked a loaded question that he probably already knew how Carrie would answer.  It's called a RATINGS GRAB and "the Donald" knew exactly what he was doing.

The shucking and jiving that the network and "the Donald" were doing the weeks following and up to and including Carrie's firing, were calculated by the pageant directors.  This girl had a contract with these people and they screwed her out of something tangible, simple as that.

The pictures I saw were a bit more revealing as one was taken while the wind was blowing and a entire nipple was exposed!  BIG DEAL.....I see worse on the FX channel every week.....She's a beautiful girl with a good bit of brains.  She'll do fine.

I say to this young lady, suit the crap out of the Donald, he's got plenty to give...

FQ, you have the right to turn the channel.....

Timothy, I'm hardly offended. Just keeping in tune with the motif from your avatar, I don't have a dog in this fight. You are one hundred percent correct that this whole thing is a made for TV non-story. I am not outraged, just rolling my eyes at the whole thing.

And that's my problem with photos like this - that is someone's daughter. I used to be into various adult porn - including guns - but having been saved, I cannot help but think that is someone's daughter, and I wonder what they think?

On the other hand, Carrie . . .  .DAYAMN!!!!!!!!!!!!  ;D

my first venture out of the corner in a looooooong time, and here I go heading back . . . .

I ain't dead either Path but I wonder myself how some of these girls follow the path of least resistance.

I guess it's the "Girls Gone Wild" generation..... I see my little girl today as if she's still ten years old and I probably always will!

TAB, you must be better than Hugh Hefner at the grotto with a camera, I read these pics were as "racy" as they got.

Your a Kalifornia guy, give up the skinny.....Based on your avatar history, I can't imagine some pics like this would just "slip by you"

Well, He HAS worked with David Allen Coe, and it just doesn't get any more country than that since Loretta Lynn passed.

Dang, Lorretta passed away?  I've been spending too much time being busy.

David Allen Coe, the Mysterious Rhinestone Cowboy;  have you ever heard his album with 7 Mile Bridge on it, it's the 7th album from that label, and the 7th song that is 7 minutes and 7 seconds long, that talks about the 7 Mile Bride that was recorded on the 7th day of the 7th month..etc.?  He used to play in some dives around Hammond, La. near where I grew up....I mean cinder block dives, pretty cool.  Last time I saw him was 20 years ago in Baton Rouge...it was terrible...too much crack...that is he needed to pull his pants up and was doing stupid magic tricks..oh well...I stick to the albums/CD's/mp3's now.  Got in trouble there too with the XYL...ran into a fellow DJ I had worked several years earlier...the wife immediately disliked her...and how was I to know this woman would rush up and hug me...I ask you...how could I know?

Loretta Lynn is still alive - she's in her seventies now, but still alive and kickin'. OK, I really don't know about the kickin' part, but she's still with us. Her husband Doo passed away about a decade ago or so.
