Title: U.S. Concealed Carry Association
Post by: buddy868 on November 06, 2007, 08:50:27 AM

Hello,

I am new to this forum and wanted to know if anyone here has ever heard of the USCCA.  If so what is your opinion?  I'm curious because I get the news letter and they seem legit, but I don't know for sure.  Is there a better source for the news and info they put out?

Thanks,
Buddy

I just joined last week. Info pretty basic but covers many different areas. I haven't received magazine yet but friends suggest it is pretty good. All in all, a nice resource.

I can report that I am happy I joined.

I'm glad to see some folks say that it's a flat-out decent association. I've been looking at their website and it LOOKS like one of those scam deals, like "1000 cures they don't want you to know about" and "make a billion in real estate in two weeks".
It's a little creepy how they keep pounding away at the benefits and stuff. I think if it were all simply stated clearly ONCE, people might have more confidence.
Based on what I've read here, though, I think I might join it.

I've been a member for nearly 2 years now and couldn't be more satisfied.  The magazine is great...informative with realative, timely articles and information.  Tim is trying really hard to promote this association so don't be mistaken by his pounding away.  He is very enthusiastic.  Visit and pass the word.  With next year's election coming...his is the kind we need screaming gun rights to the entire 50 states!

I will have to agree with Jay with his assessment.  Yes Don, we are talking about the same place.  I believe when I signed up to get the newsletter (I am not a member), you go through a page or pages that really look like the cookie cutter ones for real estate, vitamins, or whatever get your money over the internet type things.  I was a little skeptical at first, but over time have come to like the content of the newsletters.

How good is the forums that he has on the site?

Terrible. Not sure what software Tim used, but terrible. Just this week he switched to a more standard "look and feel" format.

Yes, Don, it is the same website. The top of the main page looks good but if you scroll down it keeps going over and over the same stuff, and I keep waiting for the "...and if you call NOW we'll throw in...."

No reflection on the actual content or INTENT of the host- from what I'm reading here it is a worthwhile site. It just reads a little creepy to me. Maybe the host got some marketing advice from the wrong person or something, I don't know.

You see the ripoff artists busy everywhere, like Kevin Trudeau who is on tv every other day with another product. Those guys seem pretty smart, and I think you'd have to be pretty stupid to pursue that course of business with gun owners. THAT would be insane. Again...I am NOT saying that any of this applies to the host of that site, other than I think the feel of his website has gone a little astray.

Hey- talk about stupid. We just voted yesterday here in NJ. One of our ballot questions was whether or not to approve a measure that would change our state constitution to strike the language that "idiot" and "insane person" cannot vote, and replace them with language that states that a person cannot vote if they, "have been adjucated by a duly authorized court to lack the capacity to comprehend the act of voting". It passed, even though I personally voted against it, because I LIKE the words "idiot' and "insane".

So now it doesn't matter how big an idiot you are or how ridiculously insane you are, you can vote as long as you have not been pronounced to lack the capacity to comprehend the act of voting by a court. Legislate in one hand and crap in the other, there, Mr. Senator....

JayB,

That change in the NJ law should bring the Dems a lot of new votes as the 'guardians' for these people 'help' them vote!

USCCA seems legit.  I get their e-mails which have pretty good info, but I have never joined, despite the numerous NRA like solicitations they send out.   8)

Wow!  Thanks, everyone, for all of the replies.  I was expecting maybe 2, but this is great.

I feel much better about the USCCA now.

I have been a member for going on three years now.  Excellent magazine and Tim's weekly news letter is good and sometimes fun.  The old software for the forums was pretty bad, but there was a lot of extremely good discussions in there.  Now that he has moved to a different software I think the forums will be much easier to maneuver in.  They also are excellent in answering any questions you might have. I'm talking about them getting back to you the same day.

I also have a couple of his CDs and they are well put together with some very knowledgeable folks giving the information.

Over all, I am VERY pleased with what he is doing.

I'll add one more.  I also get the newsletter, which I enjoy.  But have not been too sure about the membership.  It is a little pricey.  Just not too sure about spending that much on another member and magazine.  Sounds like y'all are satisfied, though.  I just might have to rethink this.

Yes, it's a good organization.  Tim has got his head and his heart in the right places.  No, it's not cheap to be member.  Maybe equal to 150-200 rounds of .45 ACP.  The magazine and website articles give you much more value than that, particularly from the perspective of the legal ramifications and responsibilities of choosing to carry concealed.  Stop whining and join.  This time next year, we're going to want all the organizational help we can get as the gun grabbers slither all over each other trying to get the votes to take over.

 8) Hello,
I am a member of USCCA and enjoy reading the periodic e-mail and the magazine sent by US Mail. I find the information and stories timely, and appreciate the positive and proper point of view given towards concealed carry and towards gun ownership in general. I encourage not letting the the current advertising blitz bother you and to go ahead and join. I believe that if one joins under the current terms that sometime by the end of the first year of membership that one receives a $69.00 credit to use to purchase some of their branded products. The $69.00 is the annual membership fee. Join, you won't be sorry!
I am in no way associated with USCCA except as a paying member.

Thanks,
Self Reliance
