workers in the weapons industry point to signs that a nearly yearlong nationwide ammunition shortage may be winding down. More ammo is making it to store shelves now, and the price is slowly coming down.

C&E Gun Shows hosted the gun show on Saturday and Sunday, about a month after Expoland’s last gun show. Despite national reports of ammunition selling out and decent sales at the show the month before, sales were down this weekend.
“A couple months ago, it was fairly packed; you could hardly get through,” Mason said, explaining that this weekend, gun enthusiasts browsed, but fewer showed up and made big purchases. “Either they don’t have the money, or they have all they wanted.”
Its almost over.... hang in there, boys.

Bingo on both counts would be my guess. Things in SE MI had gotten back to near normal months ago. HERE, shelves are still very bare, and prices are much worse. :(
-
I have needed 9mm for the last 6 months, but I refuse to pay double what it is supposed to be selling for. So I guess I am on the side of no money to py ammo.
-
The shelves here are still pretty darn empty, either loaded ammunition or reloading components. About the only thing that is around in any quantity is shotgun shells.

I ran into a deal here local and picked up 3 boxes of 9mm FMJ, 3 boxes of 38 spl JHP and a box of .380 for 100.00.
-
Prices and supply here were back to near normal in May, only things that were still missing were .380 and .44 Spl.
-
Most places in Fargo are fully stocked, even have some .380 last I looked.
Wally World is still SOL on pistol ammo, but had multiple cases of Federal .223 in 100 boxes for $40.
-
Is it normal if shelves are filled, but prices are still high?

I stopped in Shoot Straight in Tampa back in June and they had a pallet of 9mm ammo. I bought two cases at $8.95 a box. Basic Federal FMJ stuff. The reps there said they had never been out of it. ?

Wally Worlds here, no Handgun ammo, just shotgun and some rifle...
Bass Pro, must have a crappy distributor of handgun ammo, others rifle shotgun, plenty..
Had a gun show last weekend, Speer GDHP .380 $32.00 :o
45Colt was cheaper.. ???
If it's starting to come back, its not happening everywhere.
But optimistic news is a good thing....

Prices here are higher than they were but everything else seems to be going up to so yes I guess it is, depending on HOW high.

Yeah, you stole that .380
-
Yeah, you stole that .380
either that or threatened the use of the 9mm. Hey Haz, if I ever start some sort of company, you're gonna be my purchasing agent. ;D
-
I laugh! According to the media, the recession is over, too ;)
-
what is this shortage you speak of? I never had a prob finding ammo, higher prices yes, but finding it no. Then again, I never shopped the "box stores" I went to mainly mom and pop and at the range. Like I said, higher prices, but not lack of it.
now before you say its a CA thing, no its not, when I went to reno, np, when I was in OR, np. Hell even the recent trip to ID, np.

Well, here in KS, the ammo is still in short supply. When I bought my LCP, the owner of the store took the gun out of the display case the only box of .380 he had out of the safe! I got the whole 6 month allotment of .380 that the local hell mart has gotten in to that date, a whole 5 boxes. Shoot the LCP's are easy to find but almost impossible to feed. .40 has been fairly available but haven't been able to get any 9mm for I don't know how long.

Go online. 9mm is both easy and cheap. .380 is scarcer on the ground but findable, though spendy.
