Sen. Tom Harkin (D-IA), chairman of the Senate health committee, said Republicans "will not be at the table when the Senate merges the health-care bills from two committees before sending one to the floor," the Des Moines Register reports.
Said Harkin: "No, this will be a proposal by the Democrats to bring a bill on the floor. And that's what I have said before, that the people of this country -- I keep saying -- the people of this country pretty overwhelmingly elected Barack Obama last fall and to make changes. The people of this country overwhelmingly elected Democrats to the House and Senate."

Though I think this is ironic coming from the Ds who scream about bipartisanship, it could turn out to be a blessing for the Rs.

well the good news is....
no GOP member will vote for it now.
health care refrom is coming.( rather we want it or not... yes there are many things that could be changed to make things better, but not what congress has sugguested) Only time will tell what if its some type of tort reform or some level of socialization.

Uh, 53% is a majority, but hardly overwhelming

Harkin makes me embarrassed to admit that he's from my state.
