No BS. American river bank is a f....k joke. https://www.americanriverbank.com/
I get a huge check... you know all of $300. :p ( I mean its a $300 check, who gives a rats ass)
I go into the branch to cash the check. They have a policy, all non members are charged $5 to cash a check. That was the 1st wtf...
"ok I want to open a account" " you will have to see this lady over there"
So I tell her up front, I want to open a account to avoid the fee. I get about half way thru the process and I tell her, I'm going to close this account as soon as it opens to get my money. " you can't do that"
"its my account I can close it when ever I like"
" we won't open the account then, why don't you put the check in your bank"
" I need the money, right now, besides, your litterly 300 ft away from where I picked up the check."
So of corse I ask for the person in charge... guess what its this bitch.
So I ask for her boss contact info... she gives it too me... wouldn't you know her office is about 4 miles away. Guess who is getting a vist :rotflmao:
Now every one in the croprate office was very nice( I will give them that), even the SVP was nice( I'm sure I was really red by then as I was pissed. so I don't think she wanted to make me any madder)
After telling her the story, I asked her "why am I here?" "how much has your company spent on me today alone?"
All of this BS could have been avoided if they had just waved the damn fee in the 1st place.
In all my days of working, I have never been once charged to cash a check, made to wait forever, or take part cash part cashiers check, but never charged. Its like I told them, not only will I be telling every one I know about how crappy this bank is, I will also no longer take checks from them as payment.
in the end, my check got cashed and no fee.

you bet I do... ;D
I gave them a chance... I learned the hard way in the miltary, you give the chain of command a chance. When it fails, go as high as you can and let the shit roll down hill.

Banks suck. Credit unions are way better.

Banks suck. Credit unions are way better.
It all depends on what credit union and what bank.
We have much better service, friendlier, more helpful staff at the banks we use than at the credit unions we have belonged to.
-
Do they have big plexiglas sheets between you and the teller ?
-
Credit unions are good for somethings and awful for others.
For example if you own a small biz, credit unions suck, they can not do payroll.
we just got case as a brick and morter bank here in CA, so far no complaints.
My biz accounts are thru califorina bank and trust, once again no complaints.
Now the last 2 credit unions, golden one, and health pro( which got bought out and went down hill fast)
both sucked. Golden one started charging you if your checking balance ever got bellow $100, $5 a day.... after they zinged me for about a week( I only pay one bill with my personal checking account) I closed all my accounts, at that time I have + or - 50k in several accounts there. after they saw my balance they wanted to wave the fees... you should have never charged them in the 1st place, that or you should have moved funds from one of my 6 other accounts I had there.
golden one does have the plexi now... which I really, really hate. if some one was to do a take over robbery, guns won't be pointed at tellers, they will be pointed at custmers. I avoid those banks like the plague.

Yep, I stopped doing business and closed all my accounts with BoA after an incident. I was still having to use a wheelchair at the time and getting in and out of the vehicle was aggravating. First we went to the drive-thru to cash a personal check that I had written out of my account and was told the check was too large to cash at the drive-thru, and we would have to go in. The wife went into the bank (that I had used for 15 years, even before it was BoA) and took my license and hers for ID. They said I had to come in and do it in person. She said that I was out in the truck and it was very difficult for me to come in. They said it was not their problem. Well, she came out and told me.....so....I went in......and told the manager that since it was so painful to come in, I might as well make it worth the effort...............and promptly closed both my accounts (and Amy's as well) and went to a locally owned bank.

I disagee (shocking) but I have always liked credit unions. Yeah you get stuck on the ATM fee, but you have people who know your name when you walk in the door and credit is easier than at a corporate bank. I've been been doing business at one for better than 25 years. I know the staff by name and I can get a low dollar (under 5k) loan for the asking even though my credit is not that great. It is the difference between dealing with your neighbors and corporate HQ in New York who don't kow you and couldn't care less. It why I always buy (and borrow and bank local) if I can. Those relationships pay off down the road. A corporate bank hearing I'm unemployed is going to tell me to piss off if I ask for a loan. My local credit union will give it to me because I know the names of the loan officers kids, and she knows that in 25 years I've never failed to pay off a note. I am all in favor of local credit unions.

There's nothing to worry about here! The nickle and diming nearly all banks are pulling will end soon enough when we're all paid in government vouchers. ;D
