I read this and I thought how fitting and perfect for this day and age. Also it brought a smile to my face so I thought I would share...
"Not long ago it was easy to tell who the bad guys were. They carried Kalashnikovs. Now it is much more complicated, but one thing is sure - any man who covers his face and packs a gun is a legitimate target for any decent citizen." -Col. Jeff Cooper 1993

Great post, Ksail.
And, I agree 100%.
-
Need to keep posting the great things Col. Cooper has stated over the years.
Wish he were still with us.
Thanks Ksail.
Haz,.... well, that post won't get you any free drink tickets at the Fraternal Order of Police meetings,..... ;)

How could I have forgotten the woman most HATED by feminists ?

Palin
ONLY HALF CREDIT. She's not currently serving in any political office.
AND her work credits are far more extensive than those of a "career" politician, so I'd hardly put her in the same class as a Biden or Obama. Maybe a "fisherperson".
-
Ksail,
When will you post today's "Quote of the Day"?
I'm waiting............don't leave me hanging. You started this....
-
Just read my tag line, I do believe it is one of Col Coopers best
-
Thank, Majer,
Okay, Ksail. You're off the hook for today. But tomorrow fast approaches.

Palin
Very true. I forgot about her. The problem is she is no longer a politician now. She's a citizen. Our loss. Bill T.

Well, not an officeholder, but still a politician - I hope!
-
She cannot handle the pressure of being under the microscope. Too bad. She is the most attractive female politician I have ever seen.
-
Okay, someone dropped the ball yesterday. No Cooper QOTD.
So here's one this morning. One I've taken more to heart lately. Not just having a gun, under the seat or in the drawer, but making sure it is actually with me....on me, more often than not.
“Remember the first rule of gunfighting... ‘have a gun.' "

Here is today's. Once again we see Col. Cooper is ahead of his time seeing that a pattern "may" be forming.
"Note that the infamous traitor, Aldridge Ames, had donated five thousand dollars of his Russian payoff to the Democratic National Committee. No comment!" Col. Cooper May 1994
I just thought that one was funny.
I will try and find some more and post when I can Alf. I love reading his old Gunsite Gossips. Someone has them all cataloged on the net so I always find myself reading them
And Haz this is one of those times I put my head down and turn it back and forth... (about your pic)

"I would add another reason - practice. Anyone who has ever been deeply involved in warfare knows that the only way to learn to fight is to fight. This may not be a popular view with the grass eaters, but I defy them to disprove it."

Speaking the truth will have that effect on some folks...

"We continue to be annoyed by commentators who insist that a certain type of firearm - a 1911 auto, for example - is designed only "to kill people." If we overlook the capacity of the defensive handgun to intimidate an attacker, that idea may be true, but we could respond by saying that a scalpel is only designed "to cut people." But we can hardly expect the logical approach from our entrenched hoplophobes. I cannot believe that all these people are essentially stupid. What they are, I propose, is simply envious. The man who cannot cope automatically envies the man who can."

“The police cannot protect the citizen at this stage of our development, and they cannot even protect themselves in many cases. It is up to the private citizen to protect himself and his family, and this is not only acceptable, but mandatory.”
-
“One cannot legislate the maniacs off the street... these maniacs can only be shut down by an armed citizenry"

Which explains why the Socialist elitists are all anti 2A.

Some people lead, some people follow and others get trampled.

"All the people constitute the militia — according to the Founding Fathers. Therefore every able-bodied man has a duty under the Constitution to become part of the "well-regulated" militia, specifically to understand and perform well with the individual weapon currently issued to the regular establishment. . . . Thus one who has not qualified himself with the M-16 may not be considered to be a responsible citizen."

Good Job Alf on keeping up while I have been busy.
"It seems that the Russians are pigging out the Jihadis in Chechnya. That is to say they are polluting the bodies of dead Moslems with swine blood, denying the deceaseds' place in paradise. Theoretically this may work. Time will tell." -Jeff Cooper 2003
"The pistol seems to have come into its own in this Arab war wherein much action takes place at very short range in the dark. The Beretta 92 is not a good choice, but there are still plenty of 1911s floating around, and those fortunate enough to acquire them report continued excellent service rendered by this fine artifact after almost a century. It is interesting that the 1911 seems to work better in an unfriendly, sandy atmosphere than its GI successors." -Jeff Cooper 2003

"Hoplophobia is a mental disturbance characterized by irrational aversion to weapons, as opposed to justified apprehension about those who may wield them." – To Ride, Shoot Straight, and Speak the Truth

"I hear that small arms ammunition in South Africa has practically disappeared from the store shelves. Either people are wisely stocking up, or some arm of the government has decided to cut off the supply. In that regard, I advise you to keep your own stocks in good shape. Our enemies may not be able to abrogate the constitution just yet, but there are economic and political means by which they may dry up our ammunition supply."

I'll make this the last one on this thread. You can read many of JC's quotes and articles by going to this link

“In the larger sense, however, the personal ownership of firearms is only secondarily a matter of defense against the criminal. Note the following from Thomas Jefferson:
The strongest reason for the people to keep and bear arms is, as a last resort, to protect themselves against the tyranny of government.
That is why our masters in Washington are so anxious to disarm us. They are not afraid of criminals. They are afraid of a populace which cannot be subdued by tyrants.” – Jeff Cooper's Commentaries, Vol. 2, No. 5, May 1994
-
"I think it would be a nifty idea to remit all taxes to holders of the Congressional Medal of Honor. This would cost the government practically nothing, and it would show that at least some of us are serious about our salutes on Veteran's Day."
Jeff Cooper
Thanks Ksail, and alf for all the great quotes.

That last one I can't disagree with.
