Title: Going to Charleston, SC. Any Suggestions?
Post by: fightingquaker13 on October 13, 2009, 02:55:43 PM
I'm heading up to Charleston with my mom in a a couple of days. Other than the obvious, anything I want to see or do? I want to see the Hunnley, the Citadel and Ft. Sumpter if the weather is nice. I was also planning on taking mom to a couple of good resteraunts (I was aiming for Magnolia and Rue de Jean). We're staying near the harbor. Any thoughts?

OK
YEECHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH! And I demand brain bleach. Seriously, that's just wrong. In the spirit of Charleston, I should demand a duel, but I'd probably lose. Instead, I will remand you to the custody of a sick and cranky M'lette. (You are so screwed).
FQ13 who will not be happy with what our corner looks like by the time you are allowed out

Hey FQ, don't dismiss the idea that fast.

If Tom likes what he sees...................maybe you could have a new daddy...............wouldn't that be great.  ;D

I lived there for three years......way back when.  Wife and I lived for a while on Jim Isle (James Island) and for a while in St Andrew's Parrish.  I was stationed at CAFB.

Of course, go walk along the battery and see all the old homes especially along the Ashley river.   You can go up Ashley River Road (SR61) and visit Magnolia Plantation.    And there's the USS Yorktown and Clagamore over at Point Pleasant.   I'll be there to attend a wedding in two weeks.  We won't have a lot of time, but will visit our old homes.

TRIVA:  Charleston Harbor is where the Ashley and Cooper rivers meet to form the Atlantic Ocean.  Don't believe me?  Just ask any native Charlestonian.

Patriots Point, (Don't let the guy talk you into any tattoos.)

Charleston City Marina, has the hottest Bartender at the "Hole In the Wall", great pool tables, downstairs, great food upstairs.

The historical section around the battery, has some great clubs, I can;t remember the name of them all, but South Charleston in the Folly Beach area, will find you in a mud wrestling contest if you want... ::).

Can you wrestle in mud against two women????

Great Town. Avoid North Charleston, unless your with a local and CCW. Kinda like Riviera Beach just west of the ICW.

Stay Safe, watch those "wayward women",.... 8)

Suggestion? Yeah, warn the citizens of Charleston you're on your way.    ;D

Sullivan's Island is cool, Ft. Moultrie is on the southern end. My family used to spend summers 100 yards form the beach on Sullivan's, wonderful place.

Battery is wonderful

Patriot's Point also has the UNS Savannah - the first and IIRC the only nuclear powered merchant ship. Also a submarine.

Behave yourself, and for heaven's sake, sdon't screw it up!!  >:(
