OK
I have been playing Hamlet over the AK vs AR issue to the point everyone, including me is sick of it. Problem solved,an unexpected $500 insurance payment coinciding with a sale on AKs from a reputable dealer. Too good to be true, right? Just so. My Mother@#$$%^& computer has died two months out of the extended warranty I paid for. Thus also my dreams of a $400 AK with extra mags go with it . I yield this to Path and Rastus who will say that God loves not an an Episcopalian or a Libertarian (and in this case they're right). But honestly guys, I was this close to having both the AR AND the AK. Now, I get to spend my money on yet another stupid electronic box that if I'm lucky, will make it five years.
FQ13 who wonders why his 10 year old truck and 90 year old shotgun run fine, but his 4 year old computer will cost more to fix than replace >:(
PS All jokes (and I know they are both coming and deserved, and politics aside), you drop $1.5K on a machine and get four years? WTH? I get that it is cheaper to replace and make new than train repair techs, but this seems more than a little bit Fall of the Roman Empire to me. No, I'm not being melodramatic either. My greatgrandad bought his (now my) Parker in 1917. Its held its value. My 1998 F-150 runs as good as the day I bought it. Is it too much to ask that a $1.5K machine will see it's fifth birthday and not be seen as disposable trash? Just askin'

Bummer FQ.
Just got an insurance bill so my dreams of squirreling away a few bucks this month also went out the window.
I have to ask, what level computer does your mother require. I mean if it's a MAC then you're screwed cause they' 2-3x the price of a comparable PC. But a decent PC is available for around $299. I'm lucky in that we have a MicroCenter nearby and I've bought their house brand for years. Mostly when they've died it's been the hard disk (replaceable). At least you'd have a few dollars left over to save towards that AR.
-
I work with 'puters, every day and have for nearly thirty years.
I have a $400.00 laptop at home and a $600.00 desktop that are going on seven years. It's not how much you pay, it's what you pay for! Crumby components make for crumby computers. I'm also not afraid to replace any piece of the hardware myself!
Most times, with desktops, it's the power supply that you can replaced in about five minutes and costs under 50 bucks....
-
OMG, another FQ thread about his life as an unemployed college spelling teacher and faux "libertarian" who has an AR but now has serious buyer's remorse about 2 things and not so secretly yearns to have an AK who routinely turns every life event into a melodrama worthy of the daytime soaps (got your eye patch yet?) whose computer has now apparently gone tits up.
Got news for you, your computer didn't just up and quit - it committed suicide, just couldn't put up with the drivel you type!
;D

Heeee, heeee, heeee, haaaawww, haaaawwwww......
ROFLMAO and I think I spotted I laughed so hard.... ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D

Actually God loves all people...... except lawyers, politicians, and members of the United Methodist Church.
-
look at one of these (http://store.apple.com/us/configure/MB463LL/A?mco=MTA4MTY5Nzc) will do the trick ;D
-
FQ, I paid $600 including the replacement power supply, I've had it for over 5 years.
And YES, God has hated Episcopalians ever since they promoted Gene Robinson.
-
Yeah computers suck. As soon as you buy them, and learn to use them, they're obsolete or break down or both.
-
Go build a new machine. Cost you the same as buying one retail except it won't suck. What the hell are you typing on now? ;D
-
I feel your pain.
I got med bills out the wahoo.....and a 5 year old PC that could go ass-over-tea-kettle at any time.

Should have went for the tenifer finish ;)
re: Methodist church...... Just go to their website and look through their doctrine sometime.
www.umc.org
Their views on almost any and every social issue out there reads exactly like the far left wing talking points of the Democratic party.
*And before you shoot off your mouth, Quaker....... No, god is most certainly NOT a Democrat.

On this we agree, but he sure ain't republican either. Here's a quick test to tell if you're going to the wrong church. Does your pastor, priest, rabbi, whatever's sermon line up eithr party's platform? If so ,fire the guy or find a new church. Just my .02 (and yes I include the libertarians or any other party in this test)

Actually someone out there is doing this. One of the custom chopper shops was offering free custonized anodizing to GI's artificial legs. It inspired Doonesburys "Pimp your gimp" sequence. Funny as hell and a great idea. Why not go for the custom flame job?

I think I need to take my temperature, I have to agree with FQ on this. Your Church should be telling you "if you get pregnant you will go to Hell." Their only LEGITIMATE concern, is your SPIRITUAL condition, They stress 3 points :
1) Defining whats "Right" and "Wrong" ( unplanned, unwed , etc. pregnancies are bad in most cultures.)
2) No one is "Perfect".
3) No one is beyond Gods "Forgiveness"
On the other hand (Any and all ) have had the purpose of regulating trade and keeping the peace. It does not matter if you go back to the Egyptian Slave masters making sure the crops got planted, to an CountryWide executive juggling the books, their objective is "order", and "predictability".
My point is that one influences decide to act, while the other regulates, with force as needed, how you actually DO act, and the only place those 2 should mix is in YOUR head.
When your Government and religion are both saying the same thing one is overstepping their boundaries, to serve as a puppet of the other
Look at Medieval France as an example of Govt just being a mouthpiece for Rome, and vice versa, with Popes being appointed (more or less) by Emperors.

Actually God loves all people...... except lawyers, politicians, and members of the United Methodist Church.
Good think I only work for the UMC and am not a member.

Sorry, Quaker, but I would venture to guess that God is a very far right wing conservative (Not like any of those Congress Critter RINOs we have now)
*Yes, God is pro life.
*God despises homosexuality
*God defines marriage as between one man and one woman
*God is pro death penalty (Book of Romans)
*God is pro creationism
*God wants prayer in schools
*God is pro gun (or sword given the time period)
*God has little concern for the material well being of the disadvantaged (says poor will always be with us)
*God does not believe in Global Warming (The earth will be here for thousands of years even after God has returned)
*God is pro capitalism (You dont work, you dont eat)
*God is anti big government, but expects you to pay your taxes --- even the poor
*And many more that I could not think of off the top of my head.
Santa Claus however is a Democrat. He's cute. He's nonthreatening. He's always cheerful. And he loves animals. He may know who's been naughty and who's been nice, but he never does anything about it. He gives everyone everything they want without the thought of quid pro quo. He works hard for charities, and he's famously generous to the poor...... And he would much rather we take the Christ out of Christmas.

I could argue all of those points with good theological backing. I won't for two reasons. The first is that I agree with a few of them. Second is that I am to lazy to write, and everyone has better things to do, than read a twenty page rebuttal about Biblical hermenutics. I will say two things. The first is that pride is the original sin for a reason. The second is that if you think your politics reflect God's will and you are right and others wrong because of that, a great big honking red DANGER sign should start flashing.

1. ???
2. You have greatly misread my post. Please read again.....then re-read just to be safe.... then keep reading until you realize how to spell hermeneutics correctly.
*That ought to keep the idiot busy for a while.... I now return you to your regularly scheduled programing.

Peg was right, you really are stick in eye boy aren't you? ;D Point one, was pointing out that you might want to consider whether you should be so certain of your beliefs, or rather say that "I belive this, for these reasons, but I could be wrong". Its called humility Eric, and a willingness to be corrected, sort of like you just did with my bad spelling.

Okay, lose the Methodist thing and go to back to karma FQ, whatever it is, you were not meant to have an AK right now.

See,...George doesn't want you have an AK either,... ;)

ROFLMAO ;D
FQ, If you want sympathy, you would do better with a dictionary.
It's between "Sh!t" and "Syphilis" in Websters.
;D
This is God's way of saying you whined and moaned for an AR, he dumps a good deal in your lap (that's the proper form of "You're" for this phrase ). And all you immediately do is start "groveling" for the AK YOU decided not to get in the first place.
ENJOY THE DARN AR !
;D ::) ;D

I shoulda popped popcorn for this thread.

Thats why I posted this as humor boys. I deserve the kick in the ass. I just thought it was funny and I ain't too proud to tell tales on myself if I think its good for a laugh. Anyway, I have a good rifle and zero complaints. I just thought the situation was amusing (though I have no idea how theology got into the mix).
