How does the DC gun ban work for say out of state or city law enforcement officers? Now that the law enforcement safety act was passed.

Suggest everyone read this. Got the link off RealClearPolitics. Yea, the New Republic is a liberal rag but you should read the article anyway. This article gives the reasoning that the court might reject the individual rights interpretation and why I am scared as hell about the court hearing the case.

Agreed! Very scary. This article is a prime example of the use of selective information, statement of opinion as fact, and interpretations dismissive of other possible interpretations.

SCOTUS is comprised first and foremost by lawyers, and since their careers required them to be elected or appointed they are politicians too. No one can predict what SCOTUS will decide, especially with boneheads like Ginsberg looking to foreign laws for guidance.

It's very difficult at this point to live up to my credo - hope for the best, plan for the worst. The worst is extremely bad here, not fun to contemplate or plan for.

Yes, I think this is one Supreme Court case that has both sides scared green.  If only the Founding Fathers had couched the second amendment in clear, concise twenty-first century English.  And without all those damned commas.

Speaking of English, and meaning no offense whatsoever: it's HEAR, not HERE.

The DC gun ban shouldn't affect Law Enforcement Officers so long as they have their badge and credentials.

What is the status? I have not heard anything about this topic other than the court will listen to this case. When?

Arguments will be heard sometime in April.  We were out there last week, and the only info at the Supreme Court is April 2008, and decision could take a couple of months.  This matches with the info in the original post.  I'm sure that after Christmas and as politics get out of hand in January and February you will hear lots of mis-information out there.
