I HAVE A S&W MODEL 45 ACP MODEL 645 WITHA 1   LOOKS LIKE 6451 .WHAT DOES THE 1 MEAN OR IS IT A 6451

Sounds to me like it is the 1st generation.

For example my son has a 629 5  They made 629 1 2 3 (4 I think) and 5 improving the gun each time.

Contact S&W.  My son called about his and they gave him the MFG date and shipped to distributor over the phone.
