Archangel from Microtech (premiered) at the 2009 NRA National Meeting in Phoenix, Arizona. This Archangel design has been in development for more than a year secretly, so this was the first time the public was able to see them. The Microtech Archangel is a 9mm Double Action Only, Semi-Auto Pistol in all black or two-tone (black and stainless) pocket pistol. MCP Archangel from Microtech has finger grip on the magazine floor plate, and a mag release in the trigger guard. The Microtech Archangel weighs 7.1 ounces empty, and has a 2.32 inch long barrel, with a threaded barrel option a for a suppressor. The Microtech Archangel ships with two 5 round magazines that are constructed using the same material and waffle design they use on their MSAR 556 carbine magazines. Microtech Archangel retails for just under $600

*Will also be available as a gun/knife combo in a Pelican case for $1,000

The Archangel is not available yet, but Microtech lists this gun on their website as "Coming soon".... SHOT maybe?

Exit Question: How has this stayed off the radar around here for the last 4 months?

Interesting gun!  Will it stand up to the beating?  6 rounds of 9mm is nice especially as it comes with a spare mag.

I think they should make a six round mag for it.

Cheaper than the Rohrbaugh's (less the knife),....

Looks nice...

I volunteer myself to give a very good test drive...

What I can't figure out is why they have a threaded barrel option. Who would want to put a suppressor on a pocket pistol?  ::)

Is that a supressor in your pocket or are you just happy to see me. :)

Thats the big thing here...... This is a real game changer. We saw the .380 wars erupt over this last year.... saw a rash of new Kel-Tec clones and spin offs introduced to fill the demand for micro auto loaders as well as the complete extinction of .380 ammo.

There is no doubting the amazing consumer demand for pistols this size...... Now there is going to be one available in 9x19 (a real caliber... Offering twice the ballistic performance as .380) and at a realistic and attainable price point. Gentlemen, I think the .380 wars are over and the winner is the 9x19.... Bring enough gun, indeed!

Its not a pocket pistol however..... It is about the same size as the Glock 26 or any other traditional sub compact. It is thinner because it is a single stack and lighter, but still not good for pocket carry or deep concealment.

They should have made it with a shorter frame and be 6+1 and given it a shorter barrel and it would have been just fine. There is really no reason why they cant make the 3at be chambered for 9mm.... They would have to add some metal to control the larger explosion so it would have to weigh a little more, but they could still easily do a 9x19 with the 3at dimensions.

Thats a hell of a long shot, and did you notice that with the can attached you cant really use the sights?

Hope you got a good spotter!

Good to see its out there, but Eric is right. Its not that much smaller than a Glock or Kel Tec. I think .380 is a marginal, though valid choice (just not enough gun for me to be comfortable with and the ammo issue is the nail in the coffin). Frankly, my default answer is to get the G26, or if you can't afford it get the Kel-Tec. Both will work. If you need tiny, go with the Kel-Tec .32 (not enough gun) or the Bond Arms derringer in 10mm or .357 (plenty of gun, but SA and two shots).  As far as a $400 folding  knife? I can buy six good quality blades for that price.

Or turtles off a log.  Equal fun!   From my milk jug popping times in the back yard I would say the sights on a Bobcat are just there as an ornament.  Point shootings where its at.  Anything more than 15 feet and your kidding yourself either way (1 in 3 chance of hitting a pop can).

At roof top range it'd better be one SCARY big pigeon / turtle!!!

I like the Microtech, but carrying what amounts to a custom, one-off gun for SD would make me AWFUL nervous.  No matter what the quality.

Precisely pistol point popping pesky pigeons precipitously park-side.

OK so I'm a nerd...
