Title: CZ VZ 58
Post by: sanjuancb on October 24, 2009, 01:03:01 PM
Does anyone have any experience with the CZ VZ 58? According to Guns and Ammo some of the parts are new and some are surplus. It's an interesting looking rifle and I think that I would rather have one than an AK. Thoughts?

Along with the Valmet and Galil, it is considered the BEST of the AK's

Interesting if nothing else.  :-\

Sorta like if an AK and an SKS had a baby.

Double check me on this, the downside is they don't take the common AK mag. I am a big fan of CZ but this is what I remember.

M25 you are right, they do not take an AK mag and are not truly in the AK family.

I am liking this thing more and more as I read about it though...

Better price the mags before you decide.

More good pic.'s and such.

Still looks to me like 50% SKS, 45% AK, 5% non-stick frying pan.  Shame it won't take regular magazines.  :(  I've seen the 30 round CZ's for $33-$50 bucks a pc..

Note the paint at the gas port...  Bad paint, or site of crack / metal failure / warping / gas leak?  No idea what the history of these rifles may be, but just looking at it I'd be willing to guess it's ORIGINAL design may have been being considered at the same time as the AK47.

One of a few places that say it should come with (4) mag.s....  Most militia's only look for you to carry 200 rounds loaded, so should only need to buy three more!  ;)

Who doesn't want a gun called the "Broom"!??!  ;D  "Spray-N-Pray" may have already been registered.  ;D

Thanks for the links. There are 2 significant differences. The Vz is striker fired, ( did not know that ), and the selector is very different, hopefully easier to operate than an Ak as well.

Let us know SanJuan
