I knew this young man when he was a toddler, his Dad was my watch supervisor some 32 years ago while I was active.
THE BRONZE STAR MEDAL

For exceptionally meritorious service in support of Operation Enduring Freedom, Afghanistan from 20 October 2008 to 5 October 2009. First Class Petty Officer Sanborn's personal courage and commitment to mission accomplishment in a combat zone, under the most extreme of circumstances, greatly contributed to the success of Operation Enduring Freedom. At a guess I would say he is a SEAL. If he were a Corpsman it would have been signed by a Marine Gen.

Actually Tom, he's an IT or Information Systems Tech (Crypto). Don't ask me what the hell he's doing there! Sailors today gotta get a little dirty to advance very far. Dirt Sailors are getting quite common in Iraq and Afghanistan.

Must be "spooky" sh!t if it got him a Bronze Star. The Bronze Star is the military's highest non combat award, but they don't give them out for good attendance, or fixing the AC in the O club.
Bet he got some ranking Jihadi grabbed or killed. ;D
Good Job !

True.
I had a boss a few years back had three Bronze, two Silver Stars and nine (9) Purple Hearts. At least 5 of those medals were visibly apparent when he jogged at lunch. Five neat little holes in his back. Special Forces Army Colonel, three or four tours in 'Nam, above the line you do not cross.
Secret squirrel stuff no doubt...last I heard, he went active again and went to Bosnia during that mess in the 90's.

If I remember correctly Robin Moore wrote about a "B" team that was "up North" in "The Green Berets"
Not to be confused with the JW movie that was LOOSELY based on it.
