Title: Beans spilled on new Taurus AR ???
Post by: ericire12 on November 05, 2009, 06:10:38 PM
In the December 2009 edition of Guns & Ammo Craig Boddington writes an article about the Taurus Judge. On page 16 he writes:
Quote
Over the years, Taurus has offered a wide variety of good guns here in the US, some retro, some innovative (wait until you see the ne piston-driven AR). The Judge definitely falls into the latter category.

Well, they hit the market with a budget loaded 1911..........might as well bring an AR too....

Hell, it might even be affordable to some of us broke SOB's.    ;D

Yet if they were making another AK clone you'd be crapping you pants right now. ;D

Nah, they pretty much perfected the AK 50 years ago.  I'm REALLY waiting to see what get's the nod to replace the AR though!  We can only hope it's not chosen for the politcal or financial gains of some jerk in an office somewhere (Mcnamara :P).

This is a case where you can hope in one hand and crap in the other and see which one gets the kick back.  >:(

WHY?  The AR platform is being phased out and the new weapons will most likely be made in GA at the H&K plant where the M8 rifle was built and tested to death.  Truth is, the guts may be closer to an AK than the AR ( thank God ) BUT we have to play politics so take a ticket and sit down. This is going to be a long wait.

Frankly, if this is true, its great news. Taurus is like the budget version of Ruger. Ruger takes old designs and makes them stronger. Taurus just makes them cheaper, but most of them work pretty darn well for the money. If they come out with a $500-$650 AR it will be a good service.

For that price, I'd even look at them.  ;D

They're a great place to buy from to.  Reliable, and quick ship.

Nice. I'd get one for every member of the family, if I didn't live in this damned state. People here are starting to finally get pissed and in a couple of large counties, there is momentum to elect pro-gun Sheriffs next year. Namely, Orange County and San Diego are moving that way. Next we'll have to get at the Governor's seat. Gavin Newsom dropped out, so hopefully the Dims won't be able to regroup to find anyone as charismatic until it's too late. Jerry Brown thinks he's relevant again - poor sucker. If we could only convince the Republicans that they need to stop nominating weak softies. It seems all good, gun-loving conservatives, with any brains, are smart enough not to get tied up in politics, but we're hoping.

The Doublestar Star 15 CAR 16" HBAR .223 is not a piston driven system. So for the price+S&H+transfer fee+tax it is not as great as it seems.

G&A actually "spilled the beans" on the Taurus piston AR in the middle of August on their forum.

There are pictures of the gun  and a poor quality video shot with a phone.

Don't hold your breath! Most good, gun loving conservatives, with any brains, are smart enough not to get tied up in politics in a BROKE STATE! :o

Taurus already makes an auto Police/Military line. It might be nice to see a civilian version.

Kind of an odd caliber for the 21st century, but the design looks adaptable.

Actually it isn't that bad, Looks like it's derived from the AK to fill the MP 5 niche.
30 carbine avoids the potential for over penetration of 7.62 X 39

Without looking at any charts I thought .30 cal SMOKED 9mm...  Wouldn't that be it's competition in this type of weapons platform?

Yes, it would be an alternative to a 9mm carbine.

They also have a similar design in 9mm and 40S&W.

I have had no problems with Taurus firearms. I have been on ranges that the high dollar firearms that cost more than a taurus  crap their guts out. I watched two glocks last week malfunction on the range. Watched a M&P dump its guts out. Saw a hi point kick ass. Like buying a car, there are lemons even in the expensive ones.
