Michael, heard you mention the ultrasonic cleaner on your podcast. I'm as interested in getting my guns clean as the next guy - spelled lazy! Checked out their site but no mention of cost. What is affordable?

If it is the HCS-200 it is $400ish. I got one about a month ago and it works well. Takes me about 30 minutes real time with about 5 minutes of "doing stuff" - 10 minutes in the cleaning solution, rinse in hot water and let air dry, 10 minutes in the lube solution, drain and wipe down/air dry.
One consideration is that I need table space to leave it set up with the cleaning solution in the main tank and the lubricating solution in the separate secondary tank. As clumsy as I am, it is a problem to remove the solutions, even with a BIG funnel.

MB, have not heard the podcast yet, will play it on the iPod on the long drive home tomorrow. But one question - does the ultrasonic cleaner mean you're giving up on the dishwasher? :D

The ultrasonic cleaner doesn't give a clean lemony smell...

I sent an e-mail to the company asking about how the cleaning solution affects fiber optic and nite sites. Answer...no problem.
