U.S. intelligence agencies were aware months ago that Army Major Nidal Hasan was attempting to make contact with people associated with al Qaeda, two American officials briefed on classified material in the case told ABC News.

Maj. Nidal Malik Hasan tried to make contact with people linked to al Qaeda.
It is not known whether the intelligence agencies informed the Army that one of its officers was seeking to connect with suspected al Qaeda figures, the officials said.
One senior lawmaker said the CIA had, so far, refused to brief the intelligence committees on what, if any, knowledge they had about Hasan's efforts.
CIA director Leon Panetta and the Director of National Intelligence, Dennis Blair, have been asked by Congress "to preserve" all documents and intelligence files that relate to Hasan, according to the lawmaker.
On Sunday, Senator Joseph Lieberman (D-CT) called for an investigation into whether the Army missed signs as to whether Hasan was an Islamic extremist.
"If Hasan was showing signs, saying to people that he had become an Islamist extremist, the U.S. Army has to have a zero tolerance," Lieberman told Fox News Sunday.
Investigators want to know if Hasan maintained contact with a radical mosque leader from Virginia, Anwar al Awlaki, who now lives in Yemen and runs a web site that promotes jihad around the world against the U.S.
In a blog posting early Monday titled "Nidal Hassan Did the Right Thing," Awlaki calls Hassan a "hero" and a "man of conscience who could not bear living the contradiction of being a Muslim and serving in an army that is fighting against his own people."
According to his site, Awlaki served as an imam in Denver, San Diego and Falls Church, Virginia.
The Associated Press reported Sunday that Major Hasan attended the Falls Church mosque when Awlaki was there.
The Telegraph of London reported that Awlaki had made contact with two of the 9/11 hijackers when he was in San Diego.
He denied any knowledge of the hijacking plot and was never charged with any crime. After an intensive investigation by the FBI, Awlaki moved to Yemen.
People who knew or worked with Hasan say he seemed to have gradually become more radical in his disapproval of the war in Iraq and Afghanistan.

The Army was in a No win situation, If they had canned him they would have been sued by those renowned Patriots at CAIR and the ACLU for discriminating against a "Peaceful" Muslim.

Absolutely. That is why the Army has ways of "canning" him without actually canning him. A tour of duty to Alaska, say, or one of the bases in Greenland. Letting him know that he would retire a Major. Stuff like that.
Now? I hope they find the cajones to terminate his miserable existence after his court marshall.
The guy is a loser, no doubt about that. Hell, he couldn't even find a woman (can you say "virgin"? I thought you could). No excuse for his actions, though. I hope they hang him, no needles or firing squad -get a rope.
-
If they DO execute him it will be Needle, that was the sentence given to the guy who fragged his Officers in Kuwait

Atleast teh miltary will get it done quick.

I wouldn't bet on that. Not with this administration.

still be fasters then the 25+ years it normally takes.
IMO They should just take them right out back and either hang them or shoot them.

Tom will bring the rope and I'll supply the ammo. That way they have a choice.

shooting them is cheaper... it only costs about ~ $0.03 22 to the back of the head works very well

But hanging is more fun. While he swings you can smack him around like a frigging pinata. ;D
I'm going to Hell for that one, ain't I? :-[

My question is WHO THE HELL LET THIS GUY LIVE ? RETURN FIRE SHOULD BE SURE, SWIFT, AND DEADLY !!! The key work is deady force is DEADLY
-
That lady cop did a damn good job. Took rounds and returned fire. I'm sure he was already down when the next wave of LEOs came in and they ain't allowed to deliver the coup de grace,
-
when done correctly, hanging snaps the neck. it should be almost instant death.

He can't die soon enough for me.

Then do it wrong!

Grease the rope with a little pig fat!

I'm not getting down on the cop for what she did or didn't do. What bothers me is that this is a military base, and it was local cops that did the job. I must have this all wrong in my mind, but I have always thought that the last place I'd want to cause trouble is a military base. Not because everyone is armed, I know they aren't, but because those that are armed and charged with protecting the base would be the best of the best.

Now that I like! Plus hanging isn't quick if done in traditonal English manner. They just put on the noose and a few strong guys or winch hoisted you up until you strangled, often with breaks. If the charge was treason, after a few hoists, it was followed by disembowllement, then drawing and quatering.
FQ13 who mentions this purely theoretically of course ;)

Nobody said a damn thing about doing it correctly.

Actually it wasn't the local cops who did the job. This lady was a civilian security officer employed by the DOD.

I'll be contrary on this....I'm glad he's alive.....so we can render his sorry butt and find the other traitors who supported his attack....and catch the rest....
-
There don't have to be any others. Unless you include the jihadist propagandists that helped influence him and many of them are already on the hit list. as for execution go ahead and hang him, but instead of dropping him down, hoist him up, SLOWLY. And don't smear the pig fat on the rope, smear it on HIM.
It WAS NOT the Lady Cop that put him down, she hit him but it was the SECOND cop on the scene, Sgt. Todd who put him down, disarmed him and cuffed him. The people who were there were telling him to finish the SOB.
On reconsidering, I hope Hasan lives a long time , in general population at Leavenworth ::)
-
Only the best for him from the best of us.
An M1 Garand, a mag and the marksman who lost a friend.
Those 13 Virginians are waiting on him.
