Title: The Midway USA website makes me sad.
Post by: flynlr on November 11, 2009, 12:37:00 AM
:-[ I have just about given up on using the Midway USA website. the errors not responding to search inputs and overall
pathetic slowness of the place makes me sad..

I have spent many thousands of dollars there over the years but this ongoing problem makes it pretty darn easy to pop
into brownells after spewing curse words while trying to use the Midway,. site..

am I the only one seeing these problems? I love the company but at least for my experience the internet side is horrible.

Same here. It really is frustrating wanting to spend money (small money in my case, but money just the same) and being unable to do so. I like Midway and have never had a problem with them. But if with a pretty good computer and cable internet I can't get to what I want I am tempted to go to Brownells or Cheaperthandirt.com (not) instead. I hope they fix this.

If you truly love Midway, might I suggest that you take the time to inform them of the problem with their website.  It may be something of which they are unaware.  And speaking as a businessperson, it's tough to fix a problem if you don't know it exists.

+1

Sometimes we make changes to improve things and it doesn't work.  It may be they missed the mark, or it could be a technical glitch.  Let them know, they also have phones, because they deserve a second, third and even fourth chance.  Larry is a great guy, runs a first class operation, and is one of the Second Amendments best friends!

I've been shoping at MidwayUSA for years and their search function has always had annoying quirks that lock up and such.  I just trudged through it until I found BUDS.  Midway's lost around $1,600 from me this year because of it.  BUD'S has been SUPER reliable, and quick to ship!  :)

I have emailed Larry and others.  they always say they are trying to improve it.    they ought to take a look at the other e-commerce sites that just work.

Gave up on Midway's web site years ago......it's always gave me trouble....I have bought from them, if Brownells didn't have it. The old Brownells site was way easy to search and work with.....the jury is still out on their new site.

Don't you guys still get printed catalogs and fliers from Midway?

I'll see something in the catalog or flier and then look it up on line.

Received the following today:

Quote
Dear Mike,

Thanks for your contact with Larry.  I’m sorry it’s taken a while to respond—Larry’s been swamped with emails since the election results and typically has several hundreds of emails waiting for responses.  Between his other obligations (like Camp Perry) and his daily duties producing the TV vignettes it takes him a while to get through them.    He asked me to follow up with you.

Thanks for bringing that thread to our attention.  I’ve forwarded the link to the web team for review and Larry read the posts himself.   Website problems are affected by a wide variety of issues—Internet service providers, browser software, etc.  Our web team is constantly working to improve the performance of the website for all our customers.   We’re sorry for the problems you might have experienced yourself and very much appreciate your letting us know about the situation.

Thanks for your business!

Sincerely,

Brian

I know some will say it's just feel good glad handing, but I trust them based on past business dealings.  Now we'll see what happens.

I applaud your effort M58.

I just tried to sign into my account (I've had for about 5 years), and the web site couldn't find it.  I know I used the right e-mail address (I still get sale messages from them all the time!), so I clicked on "send my password" a total of three times over two hours.  Never got anything.  Then the site tells you to "create a new account and we'll match it up with our records"...  I tried twice and the page locked up both times to the point I had to close internet explorer...

I KNOW I've spent over $5 grand with them in the last few years, I was trying to "sign in" to see exactly how much out of curiosity...  I give up.  ::)

Places they've recently been, and will continue to loose my money to:
