Guys & Girl:
I'm very uncomfortable asking for something for myself, but in this case I need to make an exception.
As some of you know, for the past few years I've been battling the effects of severe pain in my low back, hips and knees. All three areas have been injured over the years, the knees being bone-on-bone by this time, and all three are full of arthritis. I am now down to the point where I need the assistance of a cane when walking, and am in such constant pain that even 20mg of Oxycontin every 12 hours no longer even takes the edge off.
I will be seeing a pain specialist in Sioux Falls sometime in the next few weeks. I'm terribly concerned about this situation, because as it stands, if the pain specialist can't come up with some kind of an answer I'm going to be forced to quit working, at least as far as the "real job" is concerned.
The point I'm trying to get to here is that I would greatly appreciate your prayers as I head toward this time of my life where we're trying to find some way to manage my pain to make it bearable.
Thank you for your love and prayers, and thank you for your friendship.

No Blue Line would be simply unacceptable. I've been known to meet one of my best friends there. ;D

You got it tt, Never Let'em Get You Down, Right?
Make sure that pain specialist in Sioux Falls can think "outside the box". Lots of potential options out there, that may provide real benefit.
Prayers will keep coming.
Take Care,

Tom, you're on my list as well . We share similar maladies albeit for different circumstances.
I may add that if your knees are shot, you could look into complete knee replacement and down the road, maybe your hips as well. Though my situation was due to trauma, your case may make you feel so much better in the long run and maybe alleviate some of your back pain as well.
You might already know this but it was worth mentioning. You're a young guy (in Hazcat terms ;D) and to live in that much pain for the rest of your life really sucks.
God Bless and remember, the drugs can help but they can be a bitch to wean (sp) yourself off of!

You're on my list too, (no, not THAT list ) ;D

Your added to my list Tom.
I to have tuned into listen to Chunk and the Punk!!

Added to my list as well, TT.
Before complete knee replacement, there is always the gel inserts for the knees. They wear out fast 6-12 months), but supposedly bring lots of relief while the knee replacement option is being pursued.

TT, from someone, like Tim, who is walking the same walk, the best advice I can give is if you don't have one, find a good orthopedic specialist/surgeon. There are some recent additions to treatments out there for knees and joints that may be options. The gel inserts and meds, like the Voltaren cream I told you about, may help.
I will continue to keep you, as well as the rest of the 'family', in my daily prayers.

Added to my list.

Tom, prayers are coming - and a tip that might prove helpful. The Lumbar Extender (http://www.lumbarextender.com/)my wife gave me three or four years ago has helped tremendously to control the pain in my lower back that was so bad I'd started walking with a cane. It was from an arthritic disc, and it pressed on a nerve so that if I was in Wally World for more than 10 minutes my left leg was practically numb. I know, this will sound like a Billy Mays commercial, but after stretching my spine on the Lumbar Extender for five or ten minutes ever day, over a period of about a month, the pain almost completely vanished. I use it a couple times a week now to keep my spine stretched and limber. So simple, and yet so miraculous. Best to you, buddy, whatever you choose to do. As for the knees, I know folks who've had replacement surgery, and they're happy with it.

Tom,
It has been a while, and you have been through a lot in that time. How are things going with the pain?
I can't say that I was "shocked" to see the third leg, but it did leave me at a loss. Sorry I didn't follow up that day!
Still praying for you and the Mrs. in these times!
Take care, and share if you wish.

Don't know how I missed this, but your on the list buddy, let us know how it is going.

Glucosamine-Chondroitin 500/400 mg X 3 a day. Available at any drug store.
Do this for a month, then you will know if it works or not.
Works for my knees.
Also found that salmon oil and Lecithin is great at solving "getting up in the morning stiffness" .
I'm 60 next month.

You will be in our thoughts.

I added y'all to my list Tom!

+100
That stuff really worked for me.
When I have big flare-ups and my joints are screaming (when it gets rainy and cold), my ortho doc just started me on a gel-creme called Voltaren (not everyone can use it because it is an NSAID medication) that really taked the edge off the joint pain.
Still keeping you in my thoughts and prayers TT, joint pain is b!tch.

I've been remiss of late in keeping track of things here. Spending more time working on First Shot (http://firstshotsite.blogspot.com/) and getting ready for Christmas. I do hope that you've found some relief for the pain, TT.

Tom,
I will add you to my prayers. Hang in there and God bless.
