bought a Rock Island .45, the Govt. Model. I LOVE IT ! I've put about 1500 rounds through it, No problems at all. on a standard silohuette ( spelling?)  target at 25 yards all shots in the 10 ring. Not bad for $360

I need to get out to the range and do some filming with it (when the temperature comes off of absolute zero and the winds drops from 200 mph...miserable winter so far up high!).

My take on the gun after a few rounds is that it may be the best buy in a 1911 I've ever seen. I paid full boat for mine, the lordly sum of $389 for the Tactical model. It is excellent! Shoots well; so far runs perfect. There are things I'll change, but good heavens, under $400 MSRP!!! You can change a lot!

Buy one quick before everyone else figures this out! Tell them I sent you...

PS: I want to get a standard GI version for cowboy Wild Bunch matches...

From an earlier post, I take it you still have the glacial drifts across the drive. And no pictures of the Element cleverly disguised as a huge pile of snow. And still running water? Maybe an improvement from last year. Oh yeah, it's all global warming's fault!!

Have a Happy New Year.

I get to drive from Bismarck to Fargo in a few minutes in zero degree weather. At least I got sun!

Does the new Wilson 8 round mag work in the Rock Island?

I've used Shooting star 8 round mags in mine, Haven't seen the Wilsons around here (NH) yet. The only modification I made to mine was Hogue grips, I didn't like the smooth wood in the summer with sweaty hands.
